Calculating net quantity

If the inventory unit of the material has the physical quantity Length or Area (m2), you can calculate the net quantity from the fields:

  • Length.
  • Width.
  • Number of Units.

You calculate the net quantity according to one of the following formulas:

  • If the physical quantity is Length: Net quantity = length x number of units
  • If the physical quantity is Area (m2): Net quantity = length x width x number of units
  • If desired, you can overwrite the calculated net quantity with a different value
Note: The physical quantity of a unit is displayed in the Units (tcmcs0101m000) session.

Conversion factors must exist which allow conversion of the following units to the base units of the physical quantities Length or Area (m2):

  • The unit specified in the Unit of Measure field in the Process Variables (tirou0105m000) session.
  • The inventory unit of the item.

Example

Five pieces of 20 inch wire are used in a product.

  • Length: 20 inches
  • Number of units: 5
  • The result of the calculation is: 100 inches (= 20x5)

LN displays the result of the calculation in the Net Quantity field.

  • Length : 10 cm
  • Width : 5 cm
  • Number of units : 5
  • The result of the calculation is: 250 cm2 (= 10x5x5)

LN displays the result of the above calculation in the Net Quantity field.
