An overview of SII consignment transaction handling

The Spanish tax authorities require Spanish firms who buy or sell goods in consignment in the EU to use the Immediate Supply of Information (SII) system to report consignment transactions.

These transactions include replenishments, consumptions, loss of inventory for various reasons, or reselling of unconsumed stock.

For each type of consignment transaction, a specific type of message is to be sent. Each type of message is provided with a code and a description and includes various fields that provide information about the transaction.

Some types of consignment transactions are automatically converted to messages in LN, for other types of consignment transactions the corresponding messages must be created manually.

All messages are converted to XML and submitted to the Spanish tax authorities. The Spanish tax authorities then accept or reject the messages. If rejected, a corrected message based on the same transaction is to be resubmitted.

The functionality that supports SII consignment in LN requires specific master data setup, which includes this data:

  • Message type codes and descriptions
  • Number groups and series for the message IDs
  • Warehouses to be excluded from transaction reporting
  • Paths to the outgoing, incoming, and archive folders for the messages
