To use exchange links

An exchange link is the relation between source and target sites in a multisite environment. The link is created at batch level and stored at the target site. It defines the relation between an export batch at the source site and an import batch at the target site. The import batch uses the results of the export batch.

You can also use an exchange link if the source and target batch are on the same site or in the same company. It is also possible to define multiple targets per source or multiple sources per target.

If an exchange link is activated, a subscription is stored at the source site. It defines the relation between the import batch at the target site and the export batch at the source site.

An automatic exchange of data is only possible if the link is active. The link is active if the exchange link is available at the target site and subscription is available at the source site.

If no exchange link is active, the Exchange module will function normally but it will not use the multisite control functionality
