ASCII Files (daxch0102m000)

Use this session to maintain logical ASCII files in an exchange scheme. You can do this automatically or manually.

On the appropriate menu, select the Create ASCII Files command to create the logical ASCII files automatically.

On the appropriate menu, click Create ASCII Files to start the ASCII File Fields (daxch0503m000) session.

Note: To add more information, click the Text button on the toolbar to start the text editor.

Actions/Reference menu

These options are available:

ASCII File Fields

Creates or changes ASCII file fields in the selected ASCII

file.

Create ASCII Files...

Generates ASCII file fields, with table and field relations, for a range of ASCII files.

Exchange Scheme

The exchange scheme code.

The exchange scheme is created in the Exchange Schemes (daxch0501m000) session.

Description

The description of the Exchange scheme.

ASCII File

Enter an ASCII file name.

If an ASCII file is linked to one or more LN tables, it must have a unique ASCII file code.

If you want to copy the LN table fields automatically, the ASCII file code must be the same as the LN table name. This option can be used if you do not have a data definition file of the ASCII file.

Description

The description of the ASCII file.

Definition File

Enter the name of a sequential data definition file that contains an existing ASCII file format that can be copied.

If no data definition file is available, this field does not have to be filled in . Create the ASCII file format manually, or use the definition file of the LN table in the ASCII File Fields (daxch0103s000) session.

If this field does not contain an absolute path, the path defined in this field is an extension of the Path for Definition Files field as defined under Paths on the General tab in the Exchange Schemes (daxch0101s000) session.

ASCII File Text

If this check box is selected, additional information is available for this ASCII file. The information is generated in the text editor.

Click the Text button on the toolbar to start the text editor.
