Project Schedule (tppss2700m100)

Use this session to view the schedule of the activities and budget lines by cost types of a specific project or range of projects, in a graphical format. You can also view the progress of the activity. You can define specific color codes for each status of the project, based on the color groups specified in the Gantt Chart Colors (tccom5102m000) session. For each activity, the (planning) progress ( Percentage Completedas specified in the Activities (tppss2100m000) session), if any, is displayed as a percentage and as a line linked to the activity. The percentage is displayed in the Gantt chart if the Show Completions option on the View menu is selected. A line with the related information is also displayed with the activity data.

The Gantt chart is displayed in two modes:

  • Gantt view: Displays activities, milestones, budget lines, production, purchase, and service orders based on the settings specified in Options. In this view, each group/group activity can be moved in time. You can view the top level production order, schedule and operation linked to the project. You can also view the additional details of the activity budget lines and production order, by moving the pointer over a specific activity.
  • Schedule view: Displays assigned resources (employees) only if the labor budget lines are selected to display as part of the the Gantt view.

You can access these sessions:

  • Activities (tppss2100m000) session, Activity Relationships (tppss2510m000), and Production Order (tisfc0101m100) session, by selecting the activity directly from the chart to view and modify the data that is to be displayed. For example, modify the scheduled date or the activity relationship.
  • Activity Budget (tpptc2600m000) session from the References menu by selecting an activity in Gantt View. An activity and budget can be deleted from Gantt View using the keyboard options.
  • Select Data for Planning Board (tisfc1125m000) session, using the Job Shop Planboard option in the Reference menu to view the details of the job shop planboard in the Gantt View (graphical format).

You can sort the schedule of the activities and milestones based on:

  • Scheduled start date of the activity
  • Scheduled end date of the activity
  • Actual start date of the activity
  • Actual end date of the activity
  • Milestones (within parent activity)
Note:
  • You can access this session using various sessions in project such as, Project 360 (tppdm6500m100) and Project (tppdm6600m400) sessions.
  • If required, project data can be scheduled using an external scheduling interface. See: To use an external scheduling package.
  • You can show/hide the overdue activities in the Gantt Chart, using the Show Overdue Activities/Hide Overdue Activities option in the Views menu.
  • You can display the markers and unavailability of resources in the Gantt Chart, using the Show Markers and Show Availability option in the Views menu.
  • You can also view the free float and the total float in the Gantt chart separately, using the Show Free Float and the Show Total Float option in the View menu. The total float and the free float is displayed after (forward planning) or before the activity (backward planning). Related topics: Float times
  • Markers are displayed for project dates and locations.
  • The unavailability of resources is indicated in the Schedule View and the Gantt View using a specific color.
  • Activity budget information can be accessed from the Gantt View. An activity, activity relationship and budget can be deleted from the Gantt view.
Note:

Modifying options:

  • You can only move the activities in the Gantt View if the Read Only checkbox is not selected in the Project Schedule (tppss2700m000).
  • If you move the parent activity forward (after the child activity), the child activities also move (based on the specified schedule constraints) with the parent activity.
  • If you move the parent activity backward (before the child activity), the child activity also moves backward till blocked by another linked activity.
  • If you move the child activity before the parent activity, LN adjusts the parent child activity dates. Note For example, for a Finish-Start relation, the start date is after the parent activity. Therefore, if you move the child activity backward, that is, if the start date of the child activity is before the finish date of the parent activity, the session adjusts the start date to the finish date of the parent activity.

You can create an activity relationship using the Create Predecessor Activity Relationship and Crete Successor Activity Relationship options from the Actions menu. You must select an activity to enable these options:

  • Create Successor Activity Relationship: When you select this option, the Activity Relationship (tppss2110m000) session is started. To create a successor activity relationship, the predecessor activity is defaulted with the selected activity. You must specify the successor activity.
  • Create Predecessor Activity Relationship: When you select this option, the Activity Relationship (tppss2110m000) session is started. To create a predecessor activity relationship, the successor activity is defaulted with the selected activity. You must specify the predecessor activity.
