Planboard PCS (tipcs4176m000)

You can use the graphical planning board to display the following information against a time-scale:

  • Production orders
  • Associated operations

You can start the following sessions from the References menu of the planning board:

  • Projects (tipcs2101m000)
  • Activities (tipcs4101m000)
  • Activity Relationships (tipcs4110m000)

You can change the data selection in the Select Data for Planning Board (tipcs4175m000) session.

The graphical planning board has two views:

  • Gantt view

An overview of planned projects and activities.
  • Schedule view

An overview of planned project or activity by work center.

Note that the planning board displays calendar days, not working days.

You can drag and drop the activities in the graphical planning board to replan your production. The project planning data is then updated in LN.

Replanning in the graphical planning board uses the same planning logic as the planning sessions. You can move an activity forwards and backwards in time by dragging the activity on the planning board.

Whether the production-order start date will also change, depends on the Automatic Update Production Order Start Date parameter in the Production Order Parameters (tisfc0100s000) session.

  • If the Automatic Update Production Order Start Date check box is selected, the production-order start date can change when moving an operation in time. The Planned Delivery is changed in the Production Orders (tisfc0501m000) session. The Requested Delivery is not changed.

  • If the Automatic Update Production Order Start Date check box is cleared, the following can occur:

    • If the operation moves forwards in time, the production-order end date changes, but the production-order start date does not change.
    • If the operation moves backwards in time, so that the operation starts and ends before the production-order start date, the production-order start date does not change.

In the Gantt view, rest the mouse on the project or activity for a detail overview. You can also click on the expand all button, so that all projects and activities are expanded at once.

The operations, in the Gantt view as well as in the Schedule view, can provide you with the following extra information:

  • Completion percentage

You can view the progress on a production order operation indicated by a progress bar and a completion percentage. If you click Show Completions in the appropriate menu, you can display or hide the progress bar and the percentage .

LN uses the following formula to calculate the progress bar's length:

Planned production time - Remaining production time / Planned production time

In other words, the progress bar indicates which part of the setup time and the production time is already finished. The queue time, wait time, and move time are not included in the progress calculation. Note that although part of the progress bar can be displayed underneath the operation's wait time in the planning board, the wait time is not taken into account in the progress calculation.

  • Overdueness

An operation is overdue if the operation's end time is later than the production order's requested delivery date. If you point the cursor to an operation that is overdue, the overdueness is displayed in calendar days/hours as well as in working hours. Overdueness of an operation can be indicated by the color. If the color of the operation is red, the operation is overdue. In the appropriate menu, you can click Switch 'Display Overdue' on/off to determine whether LN must use color to display that an operation is overdue.
  • Leadtime components

The operations' leadtime components, such as the queue time and the setup time, as well as the operations' statuses are indicated by colors.

In the Gantt view, use the commands in the menu to sort the production orders. By sorting your data, you can focus on a specific part of the job shop, for example, view the production orders for a specific PCS project or production start date.

You can choose whether a message must be displayed if replanning causes a production order to be late. In the appropriate menu, click Switch 'Planning Messages' on/off to determine whether a message must be displayed.

You can choose whether operations with the Completed status must be displayed in the planning board. In the appropriate menu, click Switch 'Skip Completed' on/off to determine completed operations must be displayed.

You can choose whether you want to display the operation's queue time by clicking Switch 'Display Queue Time' on/off in the appropriate menu. If the queue time is displayed, the start date of the operation block in the planning board equals the queue time's start date. If the queue time is not displayed, the start date of the operation block equals the date of the setup time or run time.

Using Activity Relationships you can show active relationship between operations in the Gantt view.
