Where-Used Production Bill of Material Use up Items (timfc3110m200)

Use this session to display where use-up materials are used in the production bills of material.

Note: To use this session the Job Shop by Site parameter in the Concept Activation (tcemm4600m000) session must be set to Active.

Field Information

Use-Up Item

The use-up material ID.

Product

The product ID.

Revision

The product revision in which the material is used.

BOM Quantity

BOM quantity

Position

The number of the BOM line.

Net Quantity

The amount of a component item used in the manufactured product.

To calculate this amount, multiply the number of units by the value in the Length field and the value in the Width field.

Net quantity can only calculated if the inventory unit is length or area. If the inventory unit is pieces the calculation cannot be performed.

For example, if you specify ten units of a component that is 2 cm long and 3 cm wide, the net quantity is 60 (10*2*3). If the width is not specified, the net quantity is 20.

Note:
  • If a negative quantity is shown, the production of a manufactured product results in a by-product. This by-product is entered in the bill of material with a negative quantity, which is used to calculate the gross material requirement.
  • If the P-BOM lines are quantity independent, this field displays a zero.
Scrap (%)

In the BOM, you can define scrap as a percentage of the net material requirements, which is the scrap factor, and as a fixed quantity, which is the scrap quantity.

A scrap percentage is the expected material loss, for example because of faulty components. A percentage of 5 means 5 out of 100 components is expected to be faulty. LN will plan for more (100/95 times net quantity) to prevent a shortage.

Scrap Quantity

You can define scrap as a percentage of the net material requirements, which is the scrap percentage, and as a fixed quantity, which is the scrap quantity. A scrap quantity is mostly used to define the amount of material that is lost every time when you start producing, for example, to test the equipment

Length

You can calculate the net quantity of the item, if the inventory unit is a length or an area unit. In case of area unit, this field is used in combination with the Width field.

The Length, Width, Size Unit and Number of Units fields apply only if the material has length or an area inventory unit, like meter and square meter. The inventory unit is defined in the Items (tcibd0501m000) session.

Width

This field is used together with the Length field to calculate the net quantity, if the material quantity is calculated using the area units.

Size Unit

The unit of measurement for Length and Width.

Number of Units
Phantom

If this check box is selected, the item is a transient subassembly, built within the production order of the end product. The bill of material (BOM) components of this subassembly are issued for the production order.

Note:
  • If the component item is a phantom, you cannot define alternative materials.

Performance aspects

The setting of this field could affect system performance and database growth. For more information, refer to Phantoms.

Allow Multiple Items

If this check box is selected, LN can distribute the estimated quantity of the estimated material over multiple items. For example, the net quantity can be divided over the use-up material and the standard material or over the standard material and one or more alternative materials. If this check box is cleared, LN issues only a single item for this BOM line for one production order.

For examples, refer to Searching for alternative materials.
