Assembly Control Parameters (tiasc0100m000)

Use this session to define parameters for Assembly Control. If you double-click an existing parameter set, you can only display the values. If you double-click the actual set and you have the necessary authorizations, you can enter new values.

Field Information

Effective Date

The date and time that the parameters are valid. The parameters are valid up to the effective date of a more recent parameter setting.

Description

For a new parameter set, enter a description of the parameters. The default is the description of the previous parameter set. Therefore, to avoid confusion you must always delete this default and add a new text.

Transaction Processing

Select the level at which you want to process transactions.

Transaction processing includes:

  • Process and store financial transactions
  • Allocate assembly parts
  • Backflush hours and material requirements
Note: If assembly orders are already present, you cannot alter this parameter.

Performance aspects

The setting of this field could affect system performance and database growth. For more information, refer to Transaction processing in ASC.

Allowed values

Line Station Based

Select parameter for high-volume environments.

The data for line-station orders is added together, for each line station, to form one clustered line-station order (CLSO) for each day. Processing is carried out at an aggregated (line station) level. You will receive production results for each period when you use line-station-based transaction processing.

Order Based

Select for low-volume environments.

Calculating for each assembly order provides more detailed information, but also creates more data. This can lead to performance problems if you have many assembly orders. One CLSO is created for each assembly order in each day. Processing is carried out for each individual assembly order. You will receive production results for each order when you use order-based transaction processing.

You can view CLSOs in the Clustered Line Station Orders (tiasc7530m000) and Clustered Line Station Order - Assembly Part Requirements (tiasc7140m000) sessions.

Assembly Parts in As-Built

Specify the types of assembly parts are included in the as-built structure.

Allowed values

None
Serialized

The assembly parts used for the as built item are serialized.

Serialized and Lot controlled

The assembly parts used for the as built item are either lot controlled or serialized.

Create Back Order for Warehousing Transfer Orders

If this check box is selected, and insufficient inventory is available to execute the transfer order to the shop floor warehouse, a back order is generated.

If this check box is cleared, and insufficient inventory is available to execute the transfer order to the shop floor warehouse, you must manually initiate the transfer of the remaining material quantity when material becomes available.

Note: The setting of this check box is not relevant for the issue of materials, only for transfer to a shop floor warehouse.

Default value

Defaulted from the Create Backorders check box in the Outbound Order Lines (whinh2120m000) session for outbound order lines for transfer orders with order origin ASC Production.

Automatic Update of Line Utilization

If this check box is selected, the capacity to which the line is used is updated automatically in case of changes.

Number of days to keep the Line Utilization

The period in days the line utilization remains current.

Backflushing
Labor Type for Backflushing

Select the labor type used when backflushing.

Assembly Part Allocation
Order Status for Material Allocation

The status that the assembly order must have before its line-station orders can be selected for material allocation.

Allowed values

Created

The initial status of the assembly order. Changes to the production order data are possible. Materials have not been issued, can be added, and have their quantities adjusted.

Production Completed

The order is reported as completed. When Warehousing finished the inbound procedure for the end items, the assembly receives the status completed.

Sequenced

The assembly order has been transferred to the assembly line and is ready for manufacture.

In Progress

Assembly order is being manufactured.

Completed

The order is reported completed and all the end items were delivered to inventory.

Closed

The financial results of the production order are calculated. Before an assembly order is closed, all materials were issued and hours accounted for. After an order is closed, materials can no longer be issued nor hours accounted.

Canceled

Quantity to Allocate

Select the criterion used for the allocation of assembly parts in the Build Assembly Part Allocation (tiasc7240m000) session for assembly orders with the status Frozen.

Note:
  • Process engineering has no connection with either process industries or process-triggered workflow.
  • This parameter only applies to line-station orders with the status Frozen. For line-station orders with another status, the allocation of assembly parts is based on product engineering. You can see the status in the Assembly Order - Line Station Orders (tiasc2510m000) session.

Allowed values

Product Engineering Quantity

The allocation of assembly parts is based on product engineering. Allocation using product engineering is a fast but approximate material requirements calculation method. The number of assembly parts for each engineering module is calculated using demand from real sales orders and hypothetical 'pseudo orders'. An engineering module is a group of standard parts, without routings, assembly lines, options, and so on, for a particular system, such as the electrical system or transmission. An engineering module is not actually manufactured and is for design and planning purposes only.

Process Engineering Quantity

The allocation of assembly parts is based on process engineering. LN calculates the requirement for assembly parts using all the relevant data for the assembly line, including option combinations, product structures, and so on.

Maximum of Both

Whichever is larger of Process Engineering Quantity and Product Engineering Quantity is used for assembly part allocation. Using the maximum quantity enables you to compensate for possible errors in the calculation based on either of the previously mentioned processes.

Allocation Horizon

The number of days assembly parts will remain allocated to the assembly order.

Assembly Order
Number Group

Select the number group you want to use for assembly orders. The number group must differ from the other number groups you select in this session, and must be a number group dedicated to Assembly Control .

Series

Select the series you want to use for assembly orders.

Clustered Line Station Order Number Group

Select the number group you want to use for clustered line-station orders. This number group must differ from the other number groups you select in this session, and must be a number group dedicated to Assembly Control .

This field is used for both order-based processing and for line-station based processing. Therefore, you must enter a value in this field.

Clustered Line Station Order Series

Select the series you want to use for clustered line-station orders.

This field is used for both order-based processing and for line-station-based processing. Therefore you must enter a value in this field.

  • For order-based processing, this field is used to generate the warehousing order number value for allocations.
  • For line-station-based processing, the clustered line station order number is generated on the basis of the Clustered Line Station Order Number Group field and the Clustered Line Station Order Series field.
  • The warehouse order value is the same as the clustered line station order value.

Line Station Variant
Number Group

Select the number group you want to use for line-station variants. This number group must differ from the other number groups you select in this session, and must be a number group dedicated to Assembly Control .

Series

Select the series you want to use for line-station variants.

If the Transaction Processing parameter is Line Station Based, you must enter a value in this field.

Reference Number
Number Group

Select the reference number for the number group.

Series

Select the series the reference numbers are part of.
