To compute capacity CTP
In the Resource Master Plan (cprmp3501m000) session, there are several fields that give an indication of the resource capacity that is still available at a certain point in time:
- Free Capacity
- Cumulative Free Capacity
- Capacity CTP
- Cumulative Capacity CTP
The free capacity is computed as total capacity minus total required (used) capacity.
The capacity CTP is an indicator of capacity availability that is specifically geared to the process of order acceptance. In the Resource Master Plan (cprmp3501m000) session, the capacity CTP is displayed in two formats:
- The capacity CTP for one period
- The cumulative capacity CTP
To compute the free capacity
LN calculates the free capacity (see the Free Capacity field in the Resource Master Plan (cprmp3501m000) session) by subtracting the value in the Required Capacity field from the value in the Available Capacity field.
Cumulative capacity CTP: example
Current plan period = 3
Plan period | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | 10 |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Free capacity | 4 | 16 | 0 | -25 | 0 | 15 | 0 | -5 |
Capacity CTP | 4 | 16 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 15 | 0 | 0 |
Cumulative capacity CTP (uncorrected) | 4 | 20 | 20 | -5 | -5 | 10 | 10 | 5 |
Cumulative capacity CTP (corrected) | -5 | -5 | -5 | -5 | -5 | 5 | 5 | 5 |
In this case, the value in period 10 is copied back to periods 9 and 8, so that part of the available capacity in period 8 is reserved to make up for the capacity deficiency in period 10.
Moreover, the negative value in period 6 is copied back to all previous periods. This serves to indicate that the available capacity in these periods should be reserved to make up for (part of) the capacity deficiency in period 6.
Computing the capacity CTP for one plan period
The capacity CTP for one plan period is a value of zero or higher which indicates how much of the capacity of this period is still available for production.
Computing the cumulative capacity CTP
A plan period's cumulative capacity CTP indicates how much capacity is still available for production, up to and including this plan period.
