Use this session to display text data. Text data consists of the following parts:

  • A language-independent part.

The language-dependent data is linked to a text and comprises the keywords and other information about the text.

Use the Text Manager command to mark the text that you want to display.

Note: A text can be edited by one user at a time. If you try to edit a text while it is being edited by another user, this message is displayed:

Text Number

Text Group

The code of the text group to which the text belongs. Each text is linked to a text group with its corresponding window type. If a text already exists, the text group only determines the user's authorization.

When you create a new text, this group determines the default window type and the authorizations of the user to use the texts in this group. When you create a text from a text field through the Text Manager command, Tools fills the Text Group field with data searched for in the following order:

  • By text field and user.
  • By text field and all users.
  • By user.

If there is no default text group, Tools calls the Assign Text Group (tttxt1101s000) session.

Note: You can change the text group of an existing text.
Number of Lines

The number of lines of which the text consists. Tools calculates and displays this number automatically on your screen.
