Convert Infor LN User to Database User (ttdba0915m000)

Use this session to convert a group of LN users to database users for a selected RDBMS. The link between the LN user and database user is created during this process. The LN user must be linked to a database user to use information from the database.

You can use these procedures to convert LN users to database users:

  • Create one database user and link multiple LN users to that database user.
    1. Select a range of LN users.
    2. Select a database.
    3. Select the database group.
    4. Select the database user.
    5. Select the check box to display errors which occur during the conversion process.
    6. Click Convert to start the process.
  • Create a database user for every LN user.
    1. Select a range of LN users.
    2. Select a database.
    3. Select the database group.
    4. Leave the database user blank.
    5. Clear the check box to use the system logon for database user
    6. Select the check box to display errors which occur during the conversion process.
    7. Click Convert to start the process.
  • Create a database user for every Operating System user.
    1. Select a range of LN users.
    2. Select a database.
    3. Select the database group.
    4. Leave the database user blank.
    5. Select the check box to use the system logon for database user
    6. Select the check box to display errors which occur during the conversion process.

Field Information

Database

The database code.

Note: Create the database in the Database Definitions (ttaad4510m000) session.
Group

The database group code.

A database group is unique in every database. You must create a database group before you create a database user, because the database user is always part of a database group.

OS Authentication

If this check box is selected, no password is required for an LN user. The user must be defined manually as an OS Authenticated user in the RDBMS. The actual procedure depends on the RDBMS. Whether or not the porting set supports this kind of authentication can be found in the Release Notes of the porting set at hand.

System logon

If this check box is selected, separate database users are generated for the system logins of the LN users. The LN users are mapped to these database users. See Converting Infor LN users to database users - Example 1.

The system logon is defined in the User Data (ttaad2500m000) session.

If this check box is cleared, and the Database User field is empty, separate database users are generated for the LN users. The LN users are mapped to these database users. See Converting Infor LN users to database users - Example 2.

If this check box is cleared, and a database user is specified in the Database User field, the LN users are mapped to that database user. See " Converting Infor LN users to database users - Example 3.

Database User

Specify the database user to which the selected LN users must be linked.

Note:

All LN users in the selection range are linked to the specified database user.

Leave this field blank in these situations:

  • If you want to create a separate database user for every LN user.
  • If you want to create a separate database user for every Operating System user.

If you specify a new database user in this field, that database user is generated.

To select an existing database user, zoom to the Database Users (ttdba0515m000) session.

Generate

If this check box is selected, a secure random password is generated for the database users. The password is automatically encrypted. The encrypted password is stored in the database user settings and is used when the users access the database.

If this check box is cleared, you must specify a password in the Password field.

Password

Specify the password for the database users. The password is automatically encrypted. The encrypted password is stored in the database user settings and is used when the users access the database.

You can only specify a password if the Generate check box is cleared.

Display Errors

If this check box is selected, the errors that occur during the conversion process are displayed.
