Axis Data (ttchm3130s000)

Use this session to maintain the coordinate system of the graph.

An axis is part of a coordinate system. A coordinate system has two or more lines, positioned at right angles, which define one or more points in a plane. In mathematics an x, y, and z axis are used. The Chart Manager has four axes:

  • Category axis as x-axis
  • Data axis as y-axis
  • Series axis as z-axis
  • Data axis II as (second ) y-axis

You can determine the scale division of the axes on the basis of the number of divisions and the division step specified.

The Chart Manager uses the domain definitions that are defined for each axis. You can also specify the labels or figures to be placed at the main divisions of the axis. The Intersection field indicates the intersection between the data axis and the category axis.

The data axis II is only present if two different graphs must be compared. They are drawn on different scales in one coordinate system.

Use the Axis (ttchm2130s000) session on the Attributes menu to set the axis attributes.

Field Information

Major Divisions

The number of major divisions in which the series axis must be divided. If you enter zero, the Chart Manager calculates the number of major divisions on the basis of the series domain and the division step.

Logarithmic

If this check box is selected, the scale division of the data axis has to be logarithmic. In that case you must enter the logbase.

Division Step

The increase of the series value between two main divisions on the series axis.

If labels are plotted on the series axis, this value is equal to the step size from one label to the other in the set. Usually this is one, which means that each label from the set is used, starting from the label entered for the first division.

If no labels are plotted on the series axis, this value is the step size (difference in value) from one main division on the series axis to the other.

Base

The base of the logarithm.

Division Labels

The set name of the division labels. These labels are placed at the major divisions of the axis. If they are not specified, Tools adopts the values from the domain.

This option is only used if the axis is intended to show data other than is specified in the domain.

Major Divisions

The number of major divisions in which the data axis is to be divided. If you enter zero, the Chart Manager will calculate the number of major divisions on the basis of the data domain and the division step.

Division Step

The increase of the data value between two main divisions on the data axis.

If labels are plotted on the data axis, this value is equal to the step size from one label to the other in the set. Usually this is one, which means that each label from the set is used, starting from the label that is entered for the first division.

If no labels are plotted on the data axis, this value is the step size (difference in value) from one main division on the data axis to the other.

Division Labels

The set name of the division labels. These labels are placed at the major divisions of the axis. If they are not specified, Tools adopts the values from the domain.

If the axis is intended to show data other than is specified in the domain, this option is used.

Intersection

The intersection of the data axis and the category axis is the data axis value at which data axis and category axis intersect. By using this field you can place the category axis at any point on the data axis.

Major Divisions

The number of major divisions in which the category axis is to be divided. If you enter zero, the Chart Manager will calculate the number of major divisions on the basis of the category domain and the division step.

Logarithmic

If this check box is selected, the scale division of the data axis II is to be logarithmic. In that case must enter the logbase.

Division Step

The number of major divisions in which the category axis is to be divided. If you enter 0, the Chart Manager will calculate the number of major divisions on the basis of the category domain and the division step.

Base

The base of the logarithm.

Division Labels

The set name of the division labels. These labels are placed at the major divisions of the axis. If they are not specified, Tools adopts the values from the domain.

This option is only used if the axis is intended to show data other than is specified in the domain.

Major Divisions

The number of major divisions in which the data axis II is to be divided. If you enter zero, the Chart Manager will calculate the number of major divisions on the basis of the data domain II and the division step.

Division Step

The increase of the data (II) value between two main divisions on the data axis (II).

If labels are plotted on the data axis (II), this value is equal to the step size from one label to the other in the set. Usually this is one, which means that each label from the set is used, starting from the label entered for the first division.

If no labels are plotted on the data axis (II), this value is the step size (difference in value) from one main division on the data axis (II) to the other.

Division Labels

The set name of the division labels. These labels are placed at the major divisions of the axis. If they are not specified, Tools adopts the values from the domain.

This option is only used if the axis is intended to show data other than is specified in the domain.

Intersection

The intersection of the data axis II and the category axis is the data axis II value at which data axis II and category axis intersect. By using this field you can place the category axis at any point on the data axis II.
