Import Language-Dependent Data from XML - Wizard (ttadv8920m000)

Use this wizard to import XML files with language-dependent components into the data dictionary. When you import the language-dependent components, Tools compiles the imported labels, and converts imported domains to run-time, and converts the imported system overhead to run-time. That is, after the import, the imported components are ready for immediate use at run-time.

In Tools, you can define multiple labels with the same code, that have different heights, and lengths. When Tools displays a label for a software component, by default, Tools displays the longest label defined for the label code. If an imported label is shorter than any existing labels with the same code in the VRC, the existing (older) label displays on the software component. To ensure the imported (new) labels display for your VRC's software components, you must select the Remove Existing Label Variants check box in this session.

Note: If an error occurrs during the import process, Tools does not compile the labels. To compile the labels that are imported during an import process in which an error occurs, use the Compile Labels (ttadv1243m000) session.

If this wizard is started from the Languages (ttpmc4511m000) session, these restrictions apply:

  • On the first wizard page, only Import File, Get File Header, and Check XML File are enabled.
  • On the second page, only Remove Existing Label Variants is enabled.
  • On the last page, only Save Defaults is enabled.
  • You must select an import file that matches the language and translation run that you selected in the Languages (ttpmc4511m000) session. If you select an XML file for a different translation run or a different language, then an error message is displayed.

Field Information

Import File

Type or select the path to, and the name of, the file you want to import.

When you import your file, LN checks the validity of the file's XML structure. If your XML file contains structural errors, LN stops the import. To check your file's XML structure before you start the import process, click Check XML File.

To display the header of the import file in the File Header field, click Get File Header .

Note: You can start this wizard from the Languages (ttpmc4511m000) session. In that case, the import file must match the language and translation run that you selected in that session. The language is displayed above the Import File field.

Shows the imported file's header. The header shows the file's settings, made in the Export Language Dependent Data to XML - Wizard (ttadv8910m000) session.

Import the whole file or make own component selection

Select:

Yes , to import all language-dependent components listed in the import file.

Import VRC

The version code of the VRC into which you want to import the language dependent components from XML.

Default value

The version code specified for the Import VRC field in the Import VRC box, when you created the import file with the Export Language Dependent Data to XML - Wizard (ttadv8910m000) session.

Import VRC

The release code of the VRC into which you want to import the language dependent components from XML.

Default value

The release code specified for the Import VRC field in the Import VRC box, when you created the import file with the Export Language Dependent Data to XML - Wizard (ttadv8910m000) session.

Import VRC

The customer code of the VRC into which you want to import the language dependent components from XML.

Default value

Remove Existing Label Variants

If this check box is selected, any existing labels in the import VRC with the same code as labels in your import file, will be removed from the import VRC. The imported labels replace the existing labels that have the same code in the import VRC.

Default value

Checked

If this check box is cleared, existing labels in the import VRC are not removed from the import VRC. The existing labels, and the imported labels with the same code are stored in the import VRC.

Note: In Tools , you can define multiple labels with the same code, that have different heights, and lengths. When Tools displays a label for a software component, by default, Tools displays the label with the longest length defined for the label code. If an imported label is shorter than any existing labels with the same code in the VRC, the existing (older) label displays on the software component. To ensure the imported (new) labels display for your VRC's software components, you must select this check box.
