Report Archiving Parameters (ttaad3140s000)

This session can be used to set the main Report Archiving parameters.

The following parameters can be set:

Field Information

Base path for Archive

Contains the directory on the LN system (NOT the client system) where the reports are archived. The administrator must ensure that the OS user who runs the Bshell has rights to write in this directory. You can set the specific path under this directory by means of the Report Archive Groups (ttaad3541m000) session.

Alternate path for Archive

Specifies an additional directory where the system will try to find archived reports if these reports are not found in the place the reports were originally created, or moved to later. The purpose is to enable system administrators to move archived reports to offline storage, for example, a CD-ROM or DVD.

Minimal age (years) before delete

Gives (some) extra security for the legal requirements. You must set this parameter to the number of years that archived reports must be kept. If a user tries to delete reports that are younger than the age specified here, the user receives a warning before the archived report is deleted. However, you can always delete reports. This can be necessary to get rid of test data or unwanted reports.

Note that LN recommends that you set strict permissions to the Move/Delete Archived Reports (ttaad3445m100) session, which makes the session available only for system administrators.

Report Archive Format is PDF

If this check box is selected, the archived reports are stored in PDF format. If this check box is cleared, the archived reports are stored in the LN native report format.

Note:

  • If the archived reports are stored in PDF format, you cannot reprint the reports via the Print Archived Reports (ttaad3445m000) session. You can only print via PDF, for example via Acrobat Reader.
  • Reprinting via PDF may lead to layout differences because PDF is proportional font based while certain device types are fixed font based.
