VSC Replica Export Master Data (tlvsc4210m000)

Use this session to export the VSC master data to a file. You can import the contents of the file on a different LN development server. In this way you can make sure that all development servers use the same VSC master data.

The session can export the following VSC master data:

  • Software coding standards
  • Verification codes
  • Verification filters
  • Source analyze codes

When the export is completed, you must transfer the file with the exported data to the other development server(s). Subsequently, log on to the other development server(s), and run the session to import the contents of the file. Depending on the replica method, the import process adds new master data and/or overwrites existing master data.

You can also import the contents of the export file on the current development server. This is useful, for example, if you want to rename a verification code. For details, refer to the online help of the Import Verification Code into Base Verification Code field in the VSC Replica Import Master Data (tlvsc4211m000) session.

Note: This session is not useful for software engineers, but is exclusively intended for the VSC administrator.

Field Information

Current System

The name of the LN development server where you perform the export.

This field is read-only.

Replica Method

Select one of the following replication methods:

  • Install. Select this method only when you run this session from a VSC development system. For example, when you install VSC, or deliver an update of the VSC software. The session exports the "install" verification code, which was generated during the installation of VSC, and the corresponding generic verification filter and source analyze codes. When you import the contents of the export file on a target system, VSC inserts, updates or deletes source analyze codes. During the import, the default values for the source analyze codes are taken from the input file. Source analyze code attributes that are set on the target system remain unchanged.
    • For example: During the import, the expression text for a source analyze code is updated, but the priority remains unchanged.
  • Master. Select this method when the target system(s) must use exactly the same VSC master data as the source system. When you import the contents of the export file on a target system, VSC overwrites existing master data, and adds new master data.
  • Slave. When you import the contents of the export file on a target system, VSC only adds new master data. This method does not overwrite existing master data. So, changes to existing master data are not replicated.
Export file

The file in which the exported data is stored.

The default value is ${BSE_TMP}/VSC_export/VSC_Master.
