Customizations

Various aspects are relevant to the development and maintenance process of customizations.

Customizations are, in most cases, built by organizations other than the producer of the related parent standard product.

The vendor who builds customizations installs the standard parent product in an update VRC.

The customization is built on top of the installed parent standard product.

This situation is specific in the sense that PMC serves both as recipient and distributor in such a development environment.

Note: As of LN 10.8, Extensibility is the standard tool to be used for customer-specific modifications (also referred to as customizations). Customers can leverage all available Extensibility features in the tx package, as well as the standard LN Report Designer.

Using Extensibility delivers immediate benefits to customers in terms of environment maintenance and paves the way to a transfer to the Cloud.

Therefore, it is no longer allowed to create derived (custom) Package VRCs from standard Package VRCs that contain software of customized versions. Consequently, any third party application that requires derived (customer) Package VRCs must follow a different approach. Please check with your account representative if you have any questions.
