Additional information

This section describes in general what you must take into account before you start the LN installation.

Network and firewall prerequisites

The required network ports depend on the components that you install. Before you start the installation, configure the required ports for all components in your deployment.

Infor SLM
Port Protocol Direction Purpose
6005 TCP Inbound to the SLM server Supports the SLM license service and cluster communication
Infor LN
Port Protocol Direction Purpose
7150 TCP Inbound to the LN server Required for Infor LN installation and runtime operations
Note: To install and use Infor LN successfully, you must configure both the SLM and LN ports before you begin the installation. Infor LN depends on Infor SLM for license management.
  • If only port 7150 is open, the LN installation can continue, but license requests will fail.
  • If only port 6005 is open, LN cannot meet its own connectivity requirements.

Make sure that both ports are available and accessible before you start the installation.

Remote Host

When you perform an LN installation on a remote (Linux or UNIX) host, ensure that your (Linux/UNIX) server runs a SSH File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) daemon.

The LN installation process supports options that require superuser privileges, such as remote root access. Some operating system security policies do not allow password-based authentication and require public key authentication instead.

Use SSH key authentication to install with Secure Shell (SSH) keys instead of a root password. This method is generally more secure than password-based authentication.

Specify these values:

  • Private key path: The path to the private key file on the system that runs the installation wizard.
  • Private key passphrase: The passphrase for the private key. Leave this field blank if the private key is not protected by a passphrase.
Note:

Before you use SSH key authentication:

  • Ensure that a public/private key pair exists on the local host.
  • Install the public key on the remote server as a trusted key.
  • Add the public key to the appropriate authorized_keys file for the target user, based on your server configuration.

Except for the authentication method, SSH key authentication behaves the same as password-based authentication.

Data

First, finish the installation, then install the required solutions.

During the first software installation, company 000 is created. If you log on as a user that is authorized for Tools, you automatically work in company 000. When you create new company numbers, do not use numbers in the range of zero through 99. These numbers are reserved by Infor for delivering base data or demo data. During updates data problems can arise if a duplicate company number is created for operational use.

To create a company, see Infor LN User Guide for Setting Up a Company.
