Improved maintenance of user profile settings

A new feature has been added to provide better governance over the user profile preferences.

A new field has been added to the User Data (ttaad2500m000) session. As administrator, you can use this field to assign a user profile template to each user. A user profile template describes which settings should be used by default in the LN user profile. To create and maintain user profile templates, you can use the new User Profile Template (ttams1160m000) session. In this session, you can specify default values for preference settings in the user profile. You can also indicate whether users can override the default settings in their user profile.

You can create multiple user profile templates with different sets of default properties for multiple groups of users. For example:

  • You can create a specific user profile template for users that rely on accessibility features. This template might have screen-reader mode active by default and use the high-contrast skin.
  • For regular users, you can create a user profile template that uses the light skin and no screen reader mode.

A user profile template contains these settings:

  • All preference settings in the user profile. That is, the template contains all settings that are available on the Preferences tab in the User Profile Details (uigwt0102s000) session. These are settings such as the Skin, Display density, and Screen reader mode.
  • The landing page settings for the user assigned to the user profile template. You can specify this information:
    • The landing page arrangement: tiles or lists
    • The landing page panels that are available for the user: recently used, frequently used, favorites, and bookmarks

Each preference setting in the template has an Editable in User Profile check box. You can use this check box to indicate whether users can override the default setting in their user profile.

For new users, no user profile template is selected, so the default system settings are applied. These are the same settings as in previous versions of LN UI. After a user profile template is applied for a user, the template determines which settings are applied as defaults in the user profile.

Exclude some Tools sessions that switch to company zero

An improvement has been made for the authorizations in Infor Birst or in LN-Analytics that are based upon LN AMS roles.

Within the authorization management in LN, template roles are provided to set up the access control in LN. The configuration of these roles can be used to control the access to data in LN-Analytics or Infor Birst. Under certain circumstances, users were able to get unjustified access to data from all companies, even if they were not specifically authorized.

New functionality has been created to prevent this system behavior.

Note: To use this new functionality, you must run a Convert to Runtime for all user accounts after the installation of this Enterprise Server release.

User Profile Template field in User Data Default Sets session

A new field, User Profile Template, has been added in the User Data Defaults Sets (ttaad2111m000) session. Through this field, the user profile template can be linked to new LN users, when they are created through Infor Federation Services (IFS).

Based on this addition, administrators now can create new LN users, including user authorizations and LN UI settings. These user authorizations are based on the linked user data template. The LN UI settings are based on the linked user profile template.

To automatically use a user data default set when creating LN users, the Assign to New Users check box must be selected in IFS.
