Serial Blocking (whwmd6135m000)

Use this session to specify the serial numbers to be blocked. These are the serial numbers of stock points that are partially blocked in the Stock Point Blocking (whwmd6130m000) session. You can only block serialized items for which the Serials in Inventory check box is selected in the Item - Warehousing (whwmd4600m000) session.

Note
  • If the blocked stock point is initiated by Quality, and serial numbers for which the storage inspection apply are specified, you can view the blocked serial numbers in the current session. In this case you cannot change the blocked serial numbers.
  • To select more than one serial number to be blocked at a time, on the appropriate menu, choose Link Serial(s).

Warehouse

A place for storing goods. For each warehouse, you can enter address data and data relating to its type.

Location

A distinct place in a warehouse where goods are stored.

A warehouse can be divided into locations to manage the available space, and to locate the stored goods. Storage conditions and blocks can be applied to individual locations.

Item

The raw materials, subassemblies, finished products, and tools that can be purchased, stored, manufactured, and sold.

An item can also represent a set of items handled as one kit, or which exist in multiple product variants.

You can also define nonphysical items, which are not retained in inventory but can be used to post costs or to invoice services to customers. The examples of nonphysical items:

  • Cost items (for example, electricity)
  • Service items
  • Subcontracting services
  • List items (menus/options)
Inventory Date

A date that is assigned to items when they are stored. You can use inventory dates to retrieve items based on FIFO (First In First Out) or LIFO (Last In First Out), without carrying out extensive lot control.

The meaning of the inventory date is connected to the outbound priority of LIFO, FIFO, or the product expiry date of the item.

With outbound priority LIFO or FIFO, the default for the inventory date is the system date; however, you can overwrite this so that the inventory date does not have to be equal to the storage date. If the item has a particular shelf life, the inventory date is the product expiry date defined for the item.

Reason for Blocking

The reason code (of type Inventory Blocking excluding EP or Inventory Blocking including EP) as defined in the Reasons (tcmcs0105m000) session.

Sequence

The sequence number refers to the record in the Stock Point Blocking (whwmd6130m000) session for which the serial numbers are blocked.

Serial Number

The serial number of the blocked serialized item.
