Order Controlled/Single setup and order generation

Order Controlled/Single is a demand-pull system that regulates the supply of materials to shop floor warehouses.

In this supply system, a specific production order for a specific product pulls the required items from a supply warehouse to the shop floor warehouse. A direct link is established between the production order for which the items are required, and the warehousing order that regulates the supply of the required items to the shop floor warehouse.

Setup

To enable supply of a shop floor warehouse using the Order Controlled/Single supply system, you must select Order Controlled/Single from the Supply System field in the Item Data by Warehouse (whwmd2110s000) session.

Note

You can only select the Order Controlled/Single supply system if the warehouse is of the type Normal or Shop Floor.

If you select the Order Controlled/Single supply system for an item for which the Order System is set to Planned, the supply must always take place from another warehouse.

After selecting Order Controlled/Single, the Supply from Warehouse check box is automatically selected and you must specify a supply warehouse in the Supply Warehouse field.

For the items that have the Order System set to a value other than Planned, LN allows you to decide whether supply must take place from a warehouse or from a supplier. When supply takes place from a supplier, you must clear the Supply from Warehouse check box.

The supply warehouse that is to supply the shop floor warehouse is determined by the order for which the supply is required. The supply warehouse can be defined in these sessions:

  • Subcontracting Models (tisub1100m000) for subcontracting purchase orders.
  • Only when a material supply line is added to a subcontracting purchase order manually, the supply-from warehouse is retrieved from the warehouse specified in the Supply Warehouse field of the Item Data by Warehouse (whwmd2110s000) session.
  • Job Shop Bills of Material (tibom3100m000) if the Job Shop by Site concept is Active in the Implemented Software Components (tccom0100s000) session for orders of type SFC Production Order. Bill of Material (tibom1110m000) if the Job Shop by Site concept is set to Inactive or In Preparation.
  • Items - Planning (cprpd1100m000) if the Sites concept is Inactive in the Implemented Software Components (tccom0100s000) session, and the warehouse is not defined for the bill of material (BOM) or the subcontracting model.
  • Item - Ordering (tcibd2100m000) or Item - Ordering by Site (tcibd2150m000) if the Sites concept is Active in the Implemented Software Components (tccom0100s000) session, and the warehouse is not defined for the bill of material (BOM) or the subcontracting model.
Order generation

When the supply system for a shop floor warehouse is Order Controlled/Single and a production order with status Created is generated, the required items are allocated in:

  • The supply warehouse if the Move Allocation to Shop Floor Warehouse parameter in the Production Order Parameters (tisfc0100s000) session has the At Release value. The supply warehouse is defined in the production, subcontracting, or item-ordering master data, see the previous list.
  • The shop floor warehouse if the Move Allocation to Shop Floor Warehouse parameter in the Production Order Parameters (tisfc0100s000) session has the At Planning or At Generation value.

In addition to the allocation of the required items, these warehousing orders are generated based on the material lines of the production order:

  • A warehousing order with order origin SFC Production and of inventory-transaction type Issue. This warehousing order contains an outbound-order line for each production-material line and will be used to issue the required goods from the shop floor warehouse to the work center. This warehousing order is blocked until the items are required in the work center.
  • A warehousing order of inventory-transaction type Transfer. When the production order is released, the transfer order is used to move the allocated items from the supply warehouse to the shop floor warehouse. Each production material line results in a warehousing-order line. This warehousing order is unblocked.

If the materials and subassemblies are part of a subcontracted operation, the warehousing orders are generated based on the purchase orders created for the subcontracted operation.

You can view transfer orders in relation to production orders in the Production Warehouse Orders (timfc0101m000) session.
