Item - Routings (tirou1101m000)

Use this session to list, define, and maintain routing codes for item specific routings and standard routing. You can define multiple routings by assigning multiple routing codes to an item and site combination.

For RPT items, and for each routing defined for RPT items, the work center (which is the bottleneck for the routing in question) is determined. The production rate for the bottleneck operation is also determined.

Note

You must have a routing code equal to the code specified in the Default Routing field of the Job Shop Master Data Parameters (tirou0100m000) session. LN uses that routing code as a default, unless an order quantity dependent routing is applicable.

Item

The item that is produced by the routing on the selected site. If this field is empty, the routing that is defined in this session is a standard routing.

Related topics

Site

The site for which the routing is linked to the manufactured item.

Routing

The sequence of operations required to manufacture an item.

For each operation, the reference operation, machine, and work center are specified, as well as information about setup time and cycle time.

The routing code identifies the routing sheet LN must print for production orders that use the corresponding routing. Multiple (alternative) routings are possible for each standard manufactured item. Selecting a routing may depend on the order quantity ( Quantity-dependent Routing in the Item - Production (tiipd0101m000) session).

Standard

If this check box is selected, the operation sequence is linked to a standard routing for the selected item and site combination. and may apply to several items. The Standard Routing Code field contains the standard routing code.

Standard Routing Code

If the Standard check box is selected, this field must contain a standard routing code.

Related topics

Unit

The quantity of the manufactured item on which the routing is based. A routing quantity enables you to include very short operation times in the routing of an item.

Example
Routing quantity100
Cycle time60 minutes

In a 60 minute time span, 100 items are produced. Consequently, the operation time of one item is 0.6 minute.

If you selected the Standard check box, LN displays the default routing quantity for the selected standard routing.

This routing quantity can only be changed after you have cleared the Standard check box.

Inventory Unit

The unit of measure in which the inventory of an item is recorded, such as piece, kilogram, box of 12, or meter.

The inventory unit is also used as the base unit in measure conversions, especially for conversions that concern the order unit and the price unit on a purchase order or a sales order. These conversions always use the inventory unit as the base unit. An inventory unit therefore applies to all item types, also to item types that cannot be kept in stock.

Up to Quantity

The maximum quantity for the routing. Depending on the order quantity, LN determines an operation sequence.

Exceptions

If this check box is selected, exceptions are linked to this routing. In other words, the routing is unit effective controlled. If you delete the routing's exceptions in the Unit Effectivity module, the check box is cleared.

Note

You cannot define exceptions for a standard routing.

StandardConfiguration

If this check box is selected, the routing is part of an item’s standard configuration. The costs related to the routing are included in the standard cost price. If the Standard Configuration check box is cleared, the routing is not part of an item’s standard configuration. The costs related to the routing are not included in the standard cost price.

The Standard Configuration check box in combination with the setting of the Valid check box in the Exceptions (tcuef0105m000) session indicates whether the routing is used for a specific effectivity unit.

  • If the Standard Configuration check box is selected, and the Valid check box is cleared for an exception linked to the routing, the routing will be omitted for a specific effectivity unit or requirement.
  • If the Standard Configuration check box is cleared, and the Valid check box is selected for an exception linked to the routing, the routing will be added for a specific effectivity unit or requirement.
Note

If the routing has exceptions attached, but you do not want to use the exceptions, for example, for selling spare parts, or for an end item which is not unit-effective, then you can clear this check box.

Text

If this check box is selected, a text is present.
