Subcontracting Operations

If you subcontract operations with this session, the production order planning is updated:

  • The work center is changed to the work center that you have assigned to the subcontractor.
  • The capacity utilization of the original work center is transferred to the subcontracting work center.
  • The remaining production time and new production date are calculated.

If you define an operation as subcontracted in this session, and then later want to define it as a nonsubcontracted (internal) operation, you must use the Production Planning (tisfc0110m000) session to reassign a normal (internal) work center as a subcontracting work center.

After you have defined subcontracting operations, you must create purchase orders for those operations in the Generate Subcontracting Purchase Documents (tisfc2250m000) session.

Subcontracting with material supply

If you want to subcontract operations for an item for which the Subcontracting with Material Flow check box in the Item - Production (tiipd0101m000) session is selected, you can fill this session's subassembly fields.

Option

You can start the Subcontracting Rates (ticpr1160m000) session by clicking the button.

Note

If you regularly subcontract to a work center within your own organization but in a different company, it is better to set up a shared work center relationship, which avoids the need for purchase orders. For more information, refer to Shared work centers.
