Using QM for manufacturing operations

Quality control of operations

If you use Quality for operations in the Job Shop Control module, LN creates inspection orders for each operation. These inspection orders specify the tests for the subassemblies produced.

You can choose between four methods which determine the interactions between the Job Shop Control module and Quality with respect to the routing operations:

  • The subassemblies are inspected, but the operations are in no way affected by the inspection orders (method A).
  • You must inspect the subassemblies, before you can report an operation completed. However, you are free to report any quantity completed or rejected, regardless of the results of the tests (method B).
  • You must inspect the subassemblies, before you can report quantities completed or rejected. The inspections result in recommendations for the quantities completed and rejected (method C).
  • You must inspect the subassemblies, before you can report quantities completed or rejected. The results of the inspections determine the quantity completed and rejected. You cannot modify these quantities (method D).
Consequences for reporting completed

The chosen method determines the use of the following fields in the Report Operations Completed (tisfc0130m000) session:

  • Quantity Completed
  • Quantity Scrapped
  • QuantityTo Inspect

You must enter the data in the Quantity Completed field and the Quantity Scrapped field, except when you chose method C or D (as mentioned before).

If the subassemblies must be inspected before reporting quantities complete or rejected (method C and D), the following happens:

  • The Quantity Completed field and the Quantity Scrapped field are blocked.
  • You can enter the data in the QuantityTo Inspect field.
  • Quality adds the results of the inspections to the Quantity Completed field and Quantity Scrapped field, when it processes the inspection order.

If you apply method C, you can still modify the Quantity Completed field and Quantity Scrapped field, after you close the inspection order.

Note

If you chose method A, and you try to change the quantities completed or rejected, after you closed the inspection order, LN will ask you if the inspection order must be reopened.

If you chose method B, C, or D, and you try to change the quantities completed or rejected, after you closed the inspection order, LN will generate a new inspection order.
