MBC (tiedm3110m000)

Use this session to display, define, and modify mass bill of material changes (MBCs).

MBC Number

This number is generated by LN using the number group you enter in the Number Group for MBC field of the Engineering Data Management Parameters (tiedm0100m000) session.

MBC Creation Date

The date on which the MBC was created.

Approval Date by Engineering

When you changed the Order Status to Approved by Engineering.

Approval Date by Production

The date when the Order Status was changed to Approved by Production.

Effective Date for Revisions created by this MBC

If the Manual Revision Numbering check box in the Engineering Data Management Parameters (tiedm0100m000) session is cleared, you must specify the effective date for the revisions that are created automatically by the MBC. If the Manual Revision Numbering check box is selected, this effective date cannot be modified.

When you finalize the MBC, this date becomes the effective date for the PBOM lines.

Finalization Date

The date on which you used the MBC in the Finalize Engineering Data (tiedm3240m000) session, and the MBC status became Finalized.

Automatic Generation of EBOMs

If this check box is selected, you can use an MBC to change and approve EBOMs. You must define actions to change the EBOMs in the MBC Action (tiedm3120m000) session. If the actions are performed, the E-item revisions are automatically linked to the MBC, after which the revisions can be approved.

If this check box is cleared, you do not use an MBC to change EBOMs. You manually change the EBOMs, then manually link the revisions to the MBC, and finally use the MBC to approve the revisions in one go.

Define Include/Exclude E-Items by Action

To an MBC, actions are linked that can change the BOM of an item. The items that are effected by the actions are defined in the Include/Exclude E-Items (tiedm3121m000) session.

If this check box is selected, you specify for every action separately which items are effected by the action. To do so, select the action in the MBC Action (tiedm3120m000) session, and start the Include/Exclude E-Items (tiedm3121m000) session from the appropriate menu. Now you can define the items that are effected by the action.

If this check box is cleared, you specify a set of items in the Include/Exclude E-Items (tiedm3121m000) session. All actions that you define for the MBC apply to that set of items.

All Actions Must Apply to Item

To an MBC, one or more actions can be linked, which are defined in the MBC Action (tiedm3120m000) session. The actions can change items that are defined in the Include/Exclude E-Items (tiedm3121m000) session. An action can add, replace, or delete a component of a specific item. If you define a set of actions, it can be the case that all actions have an effect on a specific item, or that only part of the actions apply to an item.

If this check box is selected, only items in the Include/Exclude E-Items (tiedm3121m000) session to which all actions apply are changed by means of the actions. The items to which only part of the actions apply are not changed.

If this check box is cleared, the items in the Include/Exclude E-Items (tiedm3121m000) session to which all actions apply are changed by means of the actions. However, also items to which only part of the actions apply are changed by the actions.

Note

If the Include/Exclude E-Items per Action check box is selected, this field is not available.

Example

In the MBC Action (tiedm3120m000) session two actions are defined:

  • Component B is replaced by component X
  • Component C is replaced by component Y

Two items are included in the Include/Exclude E-Items (tiedm3121m000) session:

  • Item A with components B and C
  • Item D with components B and E

If the All Actions Must Apply to Item check box is selected, only item A is changed by the actions, because both actions apply to item A. Although the first action also applies to item D, the action is not carried out for item D, because not all actions apply to item D.

If the All Actions Must Apply to Item check box is cleared, item A as well as item D is changed by the actions. For item A both actions are carried out; for item D only the first action applies and is consequently carried out.

Include/Exclude E-Items

Use this field to define whether E-items are either included or excluded when performing an MBC. If you select Include, the MBC affects the items. If you select Exclude the MBC does not affect the items. You must define the items that are included or excluded in the Include/Exclude E-Items (tiedm3121m000) sessions.

Note

If you select Exclude, but do not specify any items in the Include/Exclude E-Items (tiedm3121m000) session, all E-items are still included in the MBC.

Order Status

You can alter the status by selecting an option from the appropriate menu.

Allowed values

MBC Status

MBC Reason

The reason for the change.

You can define MBC reasons in the MBC Reasons (tiedm3104m000) session.

Engineer Responsible

The code of the person who is responsible for the MBC.

Name

The name of the individual selected for the Engineer Responsible field.

CHM Control

If this check box is selected, an approval procedure is linked to the MBC. You must complete the approval procedure in Change Management in Data Management.

In Process by Change Management

If this check box is selected, an approval procedure for the MBC has started in Data Management. You must first complete the approval procedure before you can approve the MBC for production.

Effective Dates by Change Order

If this check box is selected, the effective date on the MBC is set during the approval procedure in Data Management. This effective date is used as effective date on the BOM lines after the E-item data is copied to the PBOM. If this check box is cleared, you must enter the effective and expiry dates manually in the MBC, although Data Management is still used to approve the MBC.

Multiple Change Orders allowed

If this check box is selected, you can link multiple change proposals (multiple COs) to the MBC. The first change proposal that is approved, also approves the MBC. If this check box is cleared, you can only link one proposal to the MBC.

MBC Text

If this check box is selected, a text is present.

Cancel MBC

Click to cancel an MBC which is Approved by Engineering.

  • You cannot use a Canceled MBC. However, you can archive the data detailed in the MBC with the Archive/Delete Engineering Data (tiedm1250m000) session.
  • You cannot cancel an MBC which is still In Design. If you no longer need it you must delete it.
Freeze MBC

Click to change the status of an In Design MBC to Frozen.

Reset MBC Status

Click to reset the status of a Approved by Engineering MBC to In Design. First, the Reset MBC Status (tiedm3230m000) session is started.

Approve MBC by Engineering

Click to change the status of an MBC to Approved by Engineering. You will then be able to use to make changes to EBOMs and E-item revisions.

The MBC can only be approved if the following data is present:

  • The MBC's E-items to be included or excluded (this is mandatory if the Include/Exclude E-Items field reads Include.
  • MBC lines.

When the new MBC is approved, you should check if the order lines still correspond to the E-items for this MBC using the E-Item by MBC (tiedm3122m000) session. The reason is that it is possible that the link between the E-items and the MBC might not be deleted if an MBC is cancelled.

You can only use this command if the MBC has the following statuses:

  • In Design
  • Frozen
Approve MBC by Production

Click to change the status of the MBC from Approved by Engineering to Approved by Production. You can then use it to copy E-item revisions and EBOMS to the production environment.

Include/Exclude E-items

Click to start the Include/Exclude E-Items (tiedm3121m000) session.
