Item ordering data

You can specify item ordering data for items of these types:

• Product items
• Purchased items
• Manufactured items
• Generic items
• Service items
• List items
• Tool items

In the Item - Ordering (tcibd2100m000) and Item - Ordering (tcibd2600m000) sessions, you can specify data such as:

• Limits for the quantities that can be ordered
• Default values that are used to generate the orders
• The order method
• The order interval

The following additional details and restrictions apply to the various kinds of items:

• Purchased, Manufactured or Product items
  You can select the Purchase Schedule in use check box in the Items - Purchase (tdipu0101m000) session only for Purchased, Manufactured, or Product items. Consequently, orders for these items are issued according to a purchase schedule. If you use a purchase schedule, the order system must be Planned and the order method must be Lot for Lot.
• Generic items

  If you specify ordering data for a generic item, the Customizable check box must be selected for the item in the Items (tcibd0501m000) session. The customized items that you derive from the generic item inherit only the relevant generic item's ordering data. Ordering data that is used for make and store to stock items, is irrelevant for customized items. For example, the economic order quantity is a calculated value based on a formula. Therefore, in case of customized items, the following fields get predefined values:

  • Reorder Point: 0
  • Order Costs: 0
  • Service Level: 0
  • Safety Stock: 0
  • Number of Periods: 1
  • Period Type: Month
  • Seasonal Pattern for Safety Stock: [empty]
  • Seasonal Pattern for Forecast: [empty]
  • Lot Size Calculation Allowed: [cleared]
  • Method: Lot for Lot
  • Order Quantity Increment: 0.0
  • Minimum Order Quantity: 0
  • Fixed Order Quantity: 0
  • Economic Order Quantity: 1.0
  • Maximum Order Quantity: 99999999

• If the Customizable check box is selected, but the With PCS check box is cleared for a generic item in the Items (tcibd0501m000) session, the configured standard items (CSI) concept is applied to the item. These items are processed without using the Project Control module.

• List items
  For list items, you can specify ordering data only if the list item type is kit.
• Tool items

  Purchased items that have the Tool item specification in the Items (tcibd0501m000) session must have the item data listed below, regardless of whether you use a purchase schedule. The order quantity settings define the recommended order quantity for planned orders.

• Service items

  Service items represent services or work carried out by your suppliers or subcontractors. Service items are mainly used for cost accounting, in the same way as cost items. Service items can be used in any Operations Management package. You can specify service items that are not used in Service at all.
