Updating Physical Breakdown StructureIf the PBS is not available for the item that must be maintained, you can create a new PBS. You can create and change physical breakdown using the Create Physical Breakdown option from the action menu in:
Note This option is visible only if the Physical Breakdown Changes check box is selected in the Configuration Management Parameters (tscfg0100m000) session. You can register and process multiple changes to the child of a parent item in the Physical Breakdown Structure (PBS). All the changes incorporated at one breakdown level, are updated to the PBS after approval, simultaneously. The set of changes incorporated to a PBS is grouped as a change number. When new changes are applied to the existing PBS, a new change number is created and the existing physical breakdown structure is copied to the physical breakdown changes. After the changes are processed, the physical breakdown changes can be closed. Physical Breakdown - Changes You can register and maintain physical breakdown changes in the Physical Breakdown Changes (tscfg2140m000) and Physical Breakdown Change Lines (tscfg2141m000) sessions. You can use the Physical Breakdown Changes (tscfg2140m000) session to view and maintain the (parent) item, of an existing PBS for which changes to the component relations have to be maintained. Each change is recorded as a unique Change Number. Based on the new change order number group and the series, Infor LN defaults the change number from the configuration parameters. The Order Type and Order Number fields are specified in the Physical Breakdown Changes (tscfg2140m000) session to link the physical breakdown change to a service order, maintenance sales order or work order. You can use the Physical Breakdown Change Lines (tscfg2141m000) session to maintain the breakdown changes at the component level. When the header record is created and saved, all the components (child/children) are copied to the lines. For each position number of the physical breakdown, a change line is created. During the change process, these copied lines are available in the breakdown changes as a reference to the old structure. You can use the Source of Change field in the Physical Breakdown Change Lines (tscfg2141m000) session to indicate the reason for change. The Action field indicates the type of change incorporated in the line. When multiple changes are registered on the same breakdown position number, additional lines are created for this position . However, a single change line is allowed for each source of change. You can also use the Physical Breakdown - Changes (tscfg2640m000) session to register and maintain physical breakdown changes. Based on the configuration management parameters, the Physical Breakdown changes can be created automatically, manually or through BOD message. Automatic creation of PBS if the Automatically Update from Work Orders check box is selected (for work order, service order and maintenance sales order), in the Configuration Management Parameters (tscfg0100m000) session, the physical breakdown change is implemented. During the completion of these SO, WO, MSO , Infor LN creates the Physical Breakdown Changes in the Physical Breakdown Changes (tscfg2140m000) session. At the time of creation of PBS, Infor LN performs a multi-level check to ensure that no open PBS is available for any of the child or parent in the PBS. If available, the PBS is not created. When you save the data in the Physical Breakdowns (tscfg2110m000) session, the component/fields that belong to the parent item and the serial number of the PBS are copied to the Physical Breakdown Change Lines (tscfg2141m000) session. The Copied from PBS check box is selected in the Physical Breakdown Change Lines (tscfg2141m000) session and a new physical breakdown change number is created. The physical breakdown lines with Status set to To be Installed and To be Removed in the Physical Breakdowns (tscfg2110m000) session, are copied to the Physical Breakdown Changes (tscfg2140m000) session and you cannot modify the value in these fields. For all the lines in the Physical Breakdown Change Lines (tscfg2141m000) session, the Source of Change field is initially set to Unchanged, the Action field is set to Keep and the change Status is set to Free. Manual creation and changes of PBS You can create the PBS manually using the Physical Breakdown - Changes (tscfg2640m000) session. You can also create the PBS manually using the Create Physical Breakdown Change option from the Actions menu in the Physical Breakdowns (tscfg2110m000) session. When the PBS is created manually from the orders, the ‘ Order Release only after Approval of Breakdown Changes check box is selected in the Physical Breakdown Changes (tscfg2140m000) session. The Physical Breakdown lines can be modified, only if the Action field is set to Install, Replace and Remove in the Physical Breakdown Change Lines (tscfg2141m000) session. The item/serial can be added, modified or removed from the parent item breakdown structure. You can also modify the value in the New Quantity field, if the item is not a serialized item. The line data can be modified only if the Status is set to Free. If lines are not available with the Status set to Free (because multiple changes are implemented to the same position number during physical breakdown change), a new breakdown change line must be created for that position number, to accommodate the change. You can use the Install, Remove and Replace option from the Action menu in the Physical Breakdown Change Lines (tscfg2141m000) session, to install, remove or replace a change line. If the breakdown changes are initiated from an order, the manual changes are not allowed, until the order is completed. You can revert the manual changes in the Physical Breakdown Change Lines (tscfg2141m000) session if the Source of Change is set to Manual and the change is not approved or rejected. For a serialized item that becomes part of the structure using Replace/Install option, following constraints are applicable:
BOD Changes Based on the BOD message, a physical breakdown line can be created in the Physical Breakdown Change Lines (tscfg2141m000) session and the active PBS is copied to the PB change lines.
