BI ReportingIn Project Management, business intelligence (BI) refers to software-based techniques used to identify, extract and analyze project data such as project or sales revenue, by associated costs and income. BI reporting technology provides historical, current and predictive views of project transactions. The common functions of BI reporting technology are analytics, project performance management, forecast analytics, project scheduling, the Project Dashboard, and so on. BI facilitates better business decision-making. The BI Reporting tool facilitates generation of consolidated reports based on the data that the tool receives from Infor LN, such as expected costs, actual costs, planned dates, actual dates, expected schedule, actual schedule and so on. It also facilitates graphical representation of the analysis of the data. Using the tool, project manager can view, study and analyze the data in different forms, at different levels and based on different parameters. The tool also generates alerts, in case of a deviation in any of the business values. The record with the deviated value in the report is highlighted in RED, to alert the user. The tool provides an overview of the essential parameters required to evaluate the performance of a project. It also provides more detailed information about the project. For example, a project manager can review the planned input, actual input, expected output and actual output. By comparing these parameters, the project manager obtains an overall report on the project's performance and can take necessary measures to rectify discrepancies, if any.
