Product Features by Configurable Item (tipcf1101m000)

Use this session to link general product features and options to generic items.

Item

The code of the configurable item to which the product features apply.

Note

The item must be predefined in the Items (tcibd0501m000) session.

Item Type

A classification of items used to identify if the item is, for example, a generic item, a service item, or an equipment item. Depending on the item's type, certain functions will only apply to that item.

Allowed values

Item type

Default Supply Source

The source that supplies an item by default. You can use purchase orders or schedules, production orders or schedules, assembly orders, or warehousing orders to supply an item.

The default supply source determines what type of order is used to supply the item, but in general, you can override the default and specify an alternate source.

This field can be used to determine what type of supply order LN must create if you enter a sales order for this item and the item's inventory on hand is not sufficient.

Note

If the item type is Engineering Module, this field is Assembly and cannot be changed.

Allowed values

Supply Source

Product Feature

Characteristics which can be combined and subsequently be linked to configurable items to compose a product variant. An example of a feature is color.

Sequence Number

The sequence in which a customer can choose options for each product feature. During the configuration process the features appear on the screen in this sequence. The sequence of the features for each generic item can be chosen in a different manner than the sequence in which they are defined for the entire company.

  • By default, LN shows the last used number plus 10; thus in the sequence of 10, 20, 30 and so on. You can number product features in whatever manner you want.
  • You must adopt these default values because intermediate numbers are important when you add product features. If you must insert a product feature between 10 and 20, you can use sequence number 15.
  • The generic item can be made up of a maximum of 999 product features.
Product Feature

The product feature to be entered must be defined in the Product Feature (tipcf0150m000) session.

Note

You can manually specify product features in this field.

The description of the feature can be different from the general product feature's description in the Product Feature (tipcf0150m000) session.

Example: car color forms a more specific description of the feature color.

Effective Date

Specify the effective date of the product feature.

Note

LN shows the current date by default.

This is the effective date for the generic item's product feature.

Expiry Date

Specify the expiry date.

Note

If you leave this field blank, the product feature remains permanently effective.

Constraint ID

The constraint code to be entered must be predefined in the Configurable Item - Constraint IDs (tipcf2101m000) session. Entering a constraint code is only useful if you also record a constraint with this code in the Configurable Item - Constraints (tipcf2110m000) session.

If you zoom to the Configurable Item - Constraints (tipcf2110m000) session, you can directly define constraints for each generic item. LN asks you to create a new constraint code if a constraint was not previously entered.

You can use the Before Input section of the constraint to define a default option value. You can also indicate under which conditions LN can enter or show the product feature during product configuration.

If you use the Validation section of the constraint, you can record which conditions the option value must satisfy for the product feature. The product configurator can generate specific messages to support the configuration process.

If you enter an invalid option value for the product feature, you can record the fixed option value in the Parameter Substitution section of the constraint, with the help of formulas. You can also record this value in the Before Input section of the constraint.

SelectOption

If this check box is selected, the options that belong to this product feature must be defined separately in the Options by Product Feature and Configurable Item (tipcf1110m000) session.

If this check box is cleared, you can choose all possible values for this product feature if they comply with the option value domain you recorded for this product feature in the Product Feature (tipcf0150m000) session.

This field indicates whether a product feature has selective options.

Text

If this check box is selected, text is present with additional data about the product feature for this generic item.
