Direct processing of material shortages

This topic describes how you can process materials issued for production orders after a shortage has been resolved, without extensive, manual warehouse handling.

Direct material issue

To issue materials with little administrative handling, you can select the Direct Process Warehouse Order Line check box in the Item - Production (tiipd0101m000) session or the Estimated Materials (ticst0101m000) session.

If shortages exist during backflushing or direct processing, and later new material has arrived in inventory, you can use a skip the warehousing order procedure and directly process the remaining material quantity. You can process the shortages for a range of production orders, individual production orders, operations, or material lines.

After you process material shortages, LN prints the resolved shortages in detail.

Restrictions

Direct processing of shortages only possible for material in a production order for which the following applies:

  • The Direct Proc Wh Order Line check box is selected. This is always true for backflushed materials.
  • The ordered material quantity on the production warehouse order line exceeds the actual quantity. This means that the remaining material is in progress in the warehouse.

The direct processing of unblocked warehouse order lines is only possible if the warehouse order line meets the following criteria:

  • The correct serial number is found if the material is serialized in inventory.
  • The correct lot is found if the material is a lot-controlled item, and lot selection is Specific.
  • The item-warehouse combination is correct.
  • The correct effectivity unit is found based on interchangeability if the material is unit effective.
Note

Materials for which the ordered quantity is less than the actual quantity are returns. Returns are not automatically processed and must be handled through the warehouse order procedure.
