Pricing Parameters (tdpcg0100m000)

Use this session to:

  • View historical parameter settings.
  • Modify current parameter settings.

The pricing parameter session contains characteristics that control the pricing functionality in LN.

Note
  • By default, the Description field contains the date and time when the previous parameter set was saved. If you change the parameters, change or delete the Description text as well, in order to avoid confusion.
  • The parameters related to the Target Price functionality are displayed only if the Target Price check box is selected in the Procurement Parameters (tdpur0100m000) session.

This session contains:

  • A history list of parameter sets and their effective dates
  • The current parameter set, at the top of the list (without an effective date)

To view historical settings, double-click one of the historical parameter sets.

To view or change the current parameter settings, double-click the set without an effective date that appears at the top of the list.

If you make the required changes and save the new parameter set, LN performs the following actions:

  • Adds the new set to the history list.
  • Updates the current set (at the top of the list).

Effective Date

The date and time when the parameters are valid. The current parameter set (without an effective date) is located at the top of the list. The historical parameter sets are identified by their effective date.

Description

The description of the parameter set. For example, you can indicate why you change the parameters.

Multiple Discount Levels Implemented

If this check box is selected, multiple discount levels can be used to retrieve discounts.

If this check box is cleared, only one discount level is used to retrieve discounts.

Note

Only if this check box is selected, the Level Discount Control fields are visible and can be specified on the Sales and Purchase tabs. The number of discount levels that you can specify depends on the Number of Discount Levels field.

Number of Discount Levels

Specify the number of discount levels that you want to use to retrieve discounts. You can specify a maximum of five discount levels.

Note

A maximum number of 5 discount levels can result into an application of 11 numbers of discounts in LN. A maximum number of 4 discount levels can result into 9 discounts. A maximum of 3 discount levels can result into 7 discounts, and so on.

The reason for this is that:

  1. The first level of discount is the discount linked to a price book.
  2. The second up to the sixth level of discounts are the line discounts defined in the Sales Line Discount Matrices (tdpcg0130m110) and Purchase Line Discount Matrices (tdpcg0130m130) sessions.
  3. The seventh up to the eleventh level of discounts are the total discounts defined in the Sales Total Discount Matrices (tdpcg0130m120) and Purchase Total Discount Matrices (tdpcg0130m140) sessions.

To use, for example, 11 numbers of discounts, the Add/Overwrite Total Discounts must be set to Add. If you choose Overwrite, LN overwrites the line discounts with the total discounts, which means that the maximum number of discounts can only come to 6.

You can specify the values for the line discount levels and order discount levels in the Level Discount Control fields on the Sales and Purchase tabs. For example, if you specify a number of 2 in this field, you can define 2 discount levels: level 1 and level 2. As a result, you can select values such as First Discount for level 1 and Best Discount for level 2. LN sets discount control levels 3, 4, and 5 automatically to Not Applicable.

If you use multiple discount levels, the final discount is the result of combining discount percentages or amounts across the separate levels. You can only record and search for prices at a single level.

Performance aspects

The setting of this field could affect system performance and database growth. For more information, refer to Number of discount levels.

Combine Items for Pricing

This check box affects the recalculation of cumulative prices and discounts in the Price and Discount Recalculation Parameters (tdpcg0240s000) session.

If this check box is selected,:

  • The Apply Cumulative Price check box is by default selected when you recalculate prices in the Price and Discount Recalculation Parameters (tdpcg0240s000) session.
  • And you select the Apply Cumulative Discounts check box in the Price and Discount Recalculation Parameters (tdpcg0240s000) session, LN looks if an item is present on more than one line and adds the quantities of that item for all the lines to calculate a new discount.
Note

The way prices and discounts are recalculated also depends on the value of the Recalculate Prices and Discounts fields on the Sales and Purchase tabs.

Performance aspects

The setting of this field could affect system performance and database growth. For more information, refer to Combine items for Pricing.

Price Control

This field determines which sales price must be used from price books that are found by means of a price matrix, which you can enter in the Sales Price Matrices (tdpcg0130m010) session.

You have the following options:

  • First Price
For a specific matrix definition, LN uses the first price found in the price matrix with the most recent effective date.
  • Lowest Price
For a specific matrix definition, LN retrieves the first price found in the price matrix with the most recent effective date. However, if other relevant matrix definitions are applicable, LN continues searching these other price matrices for lower prices. LN uses the lowest price found in a price matrix.
Note
  • If you select Lowest Price, it does not mean that LN searches each entry (sequence) that is effective for a specific matrix definition in the Sales Price Matrices (tdpcg0130m010) session. LN only compares prices between price matrices that contain matrix definitions for which the Order Priority field differs in the Matrix Priorities (tdpcg0120m000) session.
  • Because LN retrieves the price with the most recent effective date in the price matrix for a specific matrix definition, you can define an exception by entering a new entry with new effective dates in the existing price matrix.

Performance aspects

The setting of this field could affect system performance and database growth. For more information, refer to Price, rate, and discount control.

In addition, the following applies:

  • The Price Control parameter is set to Lowest Price.
  • An item is sold on the 30th of May 2006 and all price matrices are applicable.

LN retrieves the correct price as follows:

  1. For the first applicable matrix definition, which is the matrix definition with Order Priority 1 in the Matrix Priorities (tdpcg0120m000), LN retrieves the price with the most recent effective date in the price matrix . As a result, LN retrieves the price of 10 from the Cust Price Matrix.
  2. Because the Price Control parameter is set to Lowest Price, LN continues searching for prices in price matrices that are also stored in the Matrix Priorities (tdpcg0120m000) session. As a result, from the Prlist Price Matrix, which is stored as Order Priority 2 in the Matrix Priorities (tdpcg0120m000) session, LN retrieves the price with the most recent effective date in the price matrix, which is the price of 8.
  3. LN uses the price of 8, which is the lowest price.
