Displaying the LN application Help

You can display these types of online Help:

  • Online manual topics
  • Glossaries
  • Session Help
  • Field Help
  • Command Help

Session Help

Explains the use of a session and includes the following:

  • The session’s aim
  • Related topics, if any
  • The session’s fields
  • The session’s form commands, displayed on the appropriate menu, or as buttons or options in the session

In a session, click the question mark.

If the Help for a single field is displayed, click the session link at the bottom of the field Help.

Field HelpExplains the use of a field.

In a session, select a field and do one of the following:

  • Click the question mark
  • Press Ctrl+right-click and select Field Help
  • Press Alt+right-click and select Field Help

If the Help for an entire session is displayed, scroll down to the appropriate field name and click on it.

Domain HelpExplains the options in a field.In the field Help, click the link in the “Allowed values” section.
Command HelpExplains the use of a form command (button or option).

In a session, select a command and do one of the following:

  • Click the question mark
  • Press Ctrl+right-click and select Command Help
  • Press Alt+right-click and select Command Help

If the Help for an entire session is displayed, scroll down to the appropriate form command name and click on it.

Online manual topicExplains a specific subject or procedure.

In the session Help or field Help, click the online manual topic link in the “Related topics” section.

Usually, online manual topics are referenced from session Help and from within other online manual topics. However, they can also be referenced from within field Help.

GlossaryExplains a term.Click an underlined term in any Help topic.

 

Note
  • The availability of, or permission for functionality depends on parameter settings. Therefore, Help topics may contain descriptions of unavailable or unaccessible functionality.
  • Small differences may apply between browsers for displaying Help.
Infor Web Help menu

In Infor LN UI, you can find the Help in the Navigation area of the Infor Web Help group.

In Infor Ming.le, you can access the menu of the Infor Web Help by displaying any Help from Infor Ming.le.

The Infor Web Help menu includes these tabs:

  • Contents
    To search for online manual topics and glossaries. First select the applicable package, and then select a topic, or select “Glossary for (package)”.
  • Index
    To display the keywords linked to Help topics. You can search for keywords only in Infor LN UI. Type a keyword and click Find.
  • Glossary
    To display the available glossary terms. You can search for a specific term in any glossary only in Infor LN UI. In the Find All Words Starting With field, enter the first letters of the term you look up and click Find.
  • Search
    To search for Help topics that contain specific terms. Type one or more terms and click Search.
Searching for Help topics that contain specific terms

You can execute these types of searches:

  • A search for terms in the topic keywords and titles
  • A search for terms anywhere in the topic texts

If you type multiple terms, the search process finds all topics with one of these terms.

The search is not case sensitive.

You can optionally use the logical operators AND, OR, and NOT.

You can use these wildcard characters:

  • * represents multiple characters
  • ? represents a single character
Note

The search string must not start with * or ?

If you put the entire phrase between double quotes, the search process finds the exact phrase.

This table shows an example of searches:

Executing a search

To find Help topics that contain specific terms:

  1. Click the Search tab.
  2. Type one or more terms.
  3. If you want to search all text in the topic, select the Perform a full text search instead of a keyword search check box. This check box is available only in Infor LN UI.
  4. Select the content to be searched. This usually is the LN release that you use. This selection can be made only in Infor LN UI. In Infor Ming.le, this is the latest LN content.
  5. Click Search to start the search. LN displays a list of found topics.
  6. Click a topic to display the Help.
