Handling Unit Template Node - Auxiliary Packaging (whwmd4162m000)

Use this session to view and maintain auxiliary packaging for the selected node.

HU Template

The code of the handling unit template for which you maintain auxiliary packaging. This code is generated by LN.

Parent Node

The parent node of the node for which you maintain auxiliary packaging.

Node

The node for which you maintain auxiliary packaging.

Item

The packed item for the current node.

If you access the handling unit template from the Package Definitions (whwmd4110m000) session, only the items defined for Mixed package definitions are displayed.

If you access the handling unit template from the Item - Package Definitions (whwmd4130m000) session, the item that you link to the current packaged definition is displayed.

Storage Unit

The quantity of the item for the current node expressed in the storage unit of the item.

Main Packaging Item

The packaging item used to pack the item specified for the current node, for example, a box.

Auxiliary Packaging Item

The packaging item used as auxiliary packing material, for example, sealing plastic to seal a number of boxes on a pallet.

Auxiliary Packaging Item Quantity

The number of auxiliary packaging items.

This number, and the values of the Based On and Based on Quantity fields determine the number of auxiliary packaging items used for the current node.

Related topics

Based On

The value based on which the number of auxiliary packaging items is determined for the current handling unit template node.

Note
  • The default value is Packaging Item.
  • The Child Packaging Item option is not applicable for the bottom level handling unit template node or when the packaging item is not linked to the child node of the handling unit template.
  • If Content is selected and the handling unit is multi-item, the quantities are summed up. It is expected that the item dimensions are similar.

Related topics

Based on Quantity

The quantity for which auxiliary packaging is required, based on the value specified in the Based On field.

If the Based On field is set to:

  • Packaging Item, the value in the current field relates to the packaging items specified for the current node. The number of auxiliary packaging items is calculated based on the quantity of packaging items specified in the current node. The value in the current field must not exceed the Packaging Item Quantity specified for the current node in the Handling Unit Templates (whwmd4160m000) session.
  • Content, the value in this field relates to the item quantity present in the generated handling unit structure.

The value specified in the current field must not exceed the content quantity specified in the Item Quantity in Storage Unit field of the Handling Unit Templates (whwmd4160m000) session.

The value in the current field is expressed in the Storage Unit of the bottom level handling unit template node.

  • Child Packaging Item, this value must not exceed the Packaging Item Quantity of the child handling unit template node specified in Handling Unit Templates (whwmd4160m000) session. For example, if a crate can contain up to 4 boxes, you cannot set the Based on Quantity field to any value greater than 4.

Related topics

Offset Quantity

The offset quantity of the handling unit that must be left out of the calculation determining the quantity of the auxiliary packaging items required for the current node.

Note

If the Based On field is set to:

  • Packaging Item, this value must not exceed the packaging item quantity of the current node.
  • Child Packaging Item, this value must not exceed the Packaging Item Quantity of the child handling unit template node of the current node. For example, when a crate can hold up to 4 boxes (packaging item box), you cannot set this quantity to a value greater than 4.
  • Content, this value must not exceed the content quantity of the handling unit template. This value is expressed in the storage unit of the bottom level handling unit template node.

Only Apply when Full

If this check box is selected, decimal values resulting from the calculation are rounded off to the nearest lower value. This means that the auxiliary packaging item is only added for multiples of the full Based on Quantity of the current node.

For example, if the Based on Quantity is 2 for 1 auxiliary packaging item TRAY, but 5 items are packed in the handling unit structure, the result of the calculation is 2.5. Therefore, two trays are added to the handling unit structure.

If this check box is cleared, decimal values resulting from the calculation are rounded off to the nearest higher value. In the previous example, three trays are added.
