Transit points

Suppliers can be required to include a transit point in the EDI message that they send to their customers. A transit point is a pooling point where goods are consolidated before being shipped overseas.

In LN, the transit point is an external address code defined in the External Address Codes (tccom4160m000) session that is defaulted to the Warehousing load, where the user can change the transit point if required.

When the load is confirmed, the transit point is transferred to the outbound advance shipping notice (ASN) that is sent to the customer through EDI.

To use transit points, the ship-to type of the load must be Business Partner. For the ship-to business partner of the load, an external address code must be present in the External Address Codes (tccom4160m000) session. The address entity of the external address code must be Business Partner. When the load is created, this external address code is defaulted to the Address field of the load.

Also, for the warehousing order type on which the load is based, the Single Ship-to Code per Load check box must be selected in the Warehousing Order Types (whinh0110m000) session to ensure that the goods are shipped to the same ship-to business partner.

In Freight, transit points are not supported. The pooling points provided by the Freight load building functionality are not included in the transit points of the outbound advance shipping notice (ASN) sent to overseas customers.

Note

For a Warehousing load that includes a shipment line based on a freight order, a transit point cannot be defined.
