Selection (whltc3600m200)

Use this session to select the item, lot, and/or serial number whose related transactions you want to view.

The selected transactions are displayed in the Tracking (whltc3800m000) and/or the Item, Lot and Serial Transactions (whltc3510m000) session.

These options determine the information that is displayed in the Tracking (whltc3800m000) session for the selected item, lot, and/or serial number combination:

Item

The raw materials, subassemblies, finished products, and tools that can be purchased, stored, manufactured, and sold.

An item can also represent a set of items handled as one kit, or which exist in multiple product variants.

You can also define nonphysical items, which are not retained in inventory but can be used to post costs or to invoice services to customers. The examples of nonphysical items:

  • Cost items (for example, electricity)
  • Service items
  • Subcontracting services
  • List items (menus/options)
Lot

A number of items produced and stored together that are identified by a (lot) code. Lots identify goods.

Serial Number

The unique identification of a single physical item. LN uses a mask to generate the serial number. The serial number can consist of multiple data segments that represent, for example, a date, model and color information, sequence number, and so on.

Serial numbers can be generated for items and for tools.

Serial Status

The status of the serialized item. The status indicates whether the item is in use in Service, in Manufacturing, or is still free to be used.

The statuses Initial, Used in As-Built, and Used in As-Maintained indicate the phases in the product life cycle of the serialized item.

Allowed values

Serial item status

E-item Revision

The number of the engineering item revision.

Effectivity Unit

A reference number, for example a sales order line or a project deliverable line, that is used to model deviations for a unit effective item.

Actual Location

A distinct place in a warehouse where goods are stored.

A warehouse can be divided into locations to manage the available space, and to locate the stored goods. Storage conditions and blocks can be applied to individual locations.

Inventory Unit

The unit of measure in which the inventory of an item is recorded, such as piece, kilogram, box of 12, or meter.

The inventory unit is also used as the base unit in measure conversions, especially for conversions that concern the order unit and the price unit on a purchase order or a sales order. These conversions always use the inventory unit as the base unit. An inventory unit therefore applies to all item types, also to item types that cannot be kept in stock.

Business Partner

The business partner from whom the lot or serialized item is bought.

Partner's Serial Number

The serial number as identified by your buy-from business partner.

Partner's Lot

The lot code as identified by your buy-from business partner.

If the Lot Type field has the Production value, this field is not available.

Also referred to as firm allocation or hard allocation. After the inventory is shipped, that is, has left the warehouse, the allocation is deleted.

Inventory Blocked

The inventory for which blocking is applicable.

Inventory throughout all warehouses that is allocated to outbound order lines. After the inventory is shipped, that is, has left the warehouse, the allocation is deleted. Also referred to as standard allocation or soft allocation. See also inventory location allocation.

Where Supplied

Displays the component items that constitute the selected item in the Tracking (whltc3800m000) session (the graph). This option helps tracking defective component items.

Where Used

Displays the end items or other higher-level items in which the selected component item is used in the Tracking (whltc3800m000) session (the graph). For example, if component X is defective, use this option to track the end items in which item X is used, to prevent that these end items are shipped to customers before the problem with item X is solved.
