Lot Control Parameters (whltc0100s000)

Use this session to maintain the lot control parameters.

The lot-control parameters are used wherever lots are used. These parameters are used to define the number group and series for the lot codes.

The parameters also define whether:

  • Surcharges must be calculated in case of valuation against lot price.
  • Engineering revisions are lot-controlled.

Effective Date

The date and time that the parameters are valid. The parameters are valid up to the effective date of a more recent parameter setting.

Description

The description of the parameter set.

Purchase Order Mask

The mask that is used to generate lot codes for purchased lots.

You can create masks in the Masks (tcibd4102m000) session.

Performance aspects

The setting of this field could affect system performance and database growth. For more information, refer to Using lots and serials

Production Order Mask

The mask that is used to generate lot codes for produced lots.

You can create masks in the Masks (tcibd4102m000) session.

Performance aspects

The setting of this field could affect system performance and database growth. For more information, refer to Using lots and serials

General Purpose Mask

The mask that is used to generate lot codes for lots which are not purchased or produced.

You can create masks in the Masks (tcibd4102m000) session.

Calculate Surcharges on Purchase Price of Lot Item

If this check box is selected, the lot price is equal to: net purchase price of order line + standard cost surcharges

Standard cost surcharges are recorded in the Standard Cost Calculation module.

The item data contains information about whether the inventory must be valued against:

  • The lot price
  • The standard cost

Selecting this parameter is only relevant in case of valuation against lot price.

If this check box is cleared, the lot price is equal to the net purchase price on the order line. If the standard cost surcharges (which are recorded on item group level) only apply to no lot items, you must clear this check box.

Performance aspects

The setting of this field could affect system performance and database growth. For more information, refer to Calculate surcharges.

Note

When the item data state that inventory of the item must be valued against the lot price, the lot price of a nonpurchased lot will be equal to the standard cost at the moment of posting to inventory.

Engineering Revisions in Lot Control

If this check box is selected, for a lot, you can record the revision of the item for which inbound or outbound movements are performed.

In this way, you can trace revisions from purchase through to sales and service through production. Use lots to realize the following:

  • Only purchased parts of the appropriate revision are included in inbound movement.
  • Only materials of the appropriate revision are used for a production order.
  • Only end products of the appropriate revision are included in inbound movement.
  • Only items of the appropriate revision are delivered to a customer.

Moreover, the use of lots (or serial number if you work with single-item lots) always enables you to trace:

  • Which revisions are used in which end products and when.
  • Which revision has been delivered to a particular customer and when.
