Superseded Serialized ItemsYou can replace the parent, the top item or the serial number of a Physical Breakdown Structure. When you update the parent, the top item or the serial number, all the related components are also updated. The status of the ‘old’ item is changed to ‘Superseded’ and you cannot use this item anymore in Infor LN. Superseded serialized items When you supersede a serialized item in the Physical Breakdowns (tscfg2110m000) session, the Status of the serialized item is set to Superseded and the entire PBS of the superseded item is copied to the new serialized item, that replaces the existing item. The superseded serialized item is registered in the Supersede Serialized Item (tscfg2240m000) session, the New Item and the New Serial Number are populated with the new item code and new serial number. A superseded serial is an item for which the item code and/or serial number is changed, therefore, is an existing item, but with a different item code and/or serial number owing to the modifications made to the item. To supersede a serialized item, a physical breakdown change must exist for the serialized item. The physical breakdown structure is not required for this serialized item. When an item is superseded, all ‘open’ orders, calls, associated with the serialized item must be checked. If the serialized item is present, the supersede action must be blocked. The superseding of an item is not allowed if an active contract is present. You must cancel the contract first and make the contract active again for the new item. A physical breakdown change that is ‘In Process’ can exist for one or more of the (child) items of the item that are superseded. In that case also the item cannot be superseded, unless the ‘supersede’ action is initiated from a physical breakdown change on the item. Because the serialized item code is not deleted, ‘old’ or ‘Closed’ objects that use the superseded item need not be updated. Because the existing breakdown structure is ‘copied’ from the superseded item to the new item, a PBS is available for the new item. Infor LN allows you to supersede a serialized item that is not part of a PBS. Superseding a child serialized item that is part of a PBS but has no child items is not allowed. The child item must be removed from the PBS first before it can be superseded. Supersede parent item in Physical Breakdown
Structure You can supersede a parent serialized item of the PBS and replace the item with a New Item/ New Serial Number in the Physical Breakdown - Changes (tscfg2640m000) session. When a parent item is superseded, all parent items of the child item in the PBS must be updated. A parent item cannot be superseded from the physical breakdown change sessions during the execution of an order, when the breakdown change is initiated by an order. The supersede action is performed only after order is executed. Supersede top item of a Physical Breakdown
Structure. You can supersede the top item of physical breakdown structure and replace the item with a Item/ Serial Number using the Supersede Serialized Item (tscfg2240m000) session. If a top item is superseded, Infor LN updates all the top items of all the child serialized items in the PBS, with the new item code. Note If a top item is available in a warehouse and the item and/or serial number is changed, the warehouse inventory levels must be corrected. Warehouse transfers is created to manage the replacement of the ‘old’ item with the ‘new’ item. A top item cannot be superseded from the physical breakdown change sessions during execution of an order. When the breakdown change is order driven, the supersede action is performed only after order is executed. In MSO, it is possible to send an item received as ‘type A’ back to the customer as ‘type B’. Effectively, the item received on the part maintenance line is superseded and the new item is sent back to the customer using the Supersede Item option in the Maintenance Sales Order - Part Lines (tsmsc1110m000) session. The related fields ‘Superseded by Item’ and ‘Superseded by Serial Number’ are added and visible if new parameter ‘Use Physical Breakdown Change’ is selected. The option can be executed only after the work order is closed. For an item, superseding is possible: only if the item is available in the delivery warehouse that is used for a work order. only after the item is sent back from the service department to the delivery location. Note If the item is superseded, and Warehousing is involved, the warehouse outbound order, planned inventory transactions and inventory commitments must be updated with the new item. Supersede parent item that is a Top Item in a Physical
Breakdown Structure. A breakdown change can be performed at the top-level of the PBS in the Physical Breakdown - Changes (tscfg2640m000) session, only if the parent item is the same as the top-item. Supersede Serial not part of a PBS If you superseded a serialized item that is not part of a PBS, no child items is updated. Item price update when the Top Item is
superseded When a top item is superseded by another new item, you can change the (valuation) price of the item. The new price is specified in the Supersede Serialized Item (tscfg2240m000) session. This can be possible only when a transfer order is to be generated.
