Using alternative items in Project

If an inventory shortage occurs for an item linked to a project, you can use this functionality to enable the sold-to business partner to select an alternative item. Optionally, you can also use the available inventory of the original item and replenish the shortage with an alternative item. To replace an item, for example, in the Estimate Lines (tpest2100m000) session, select the Item field. The application displays a message, if an alternative item is specified.

Selecting alternative items
  • You can use the Alternative Items (tcibd0505m000) session, to replace the first item with an alternative item. This is applicable only if the alternative item is specified.
  • In the Contract Deliverables (tppdm7100m100) and Planned PRP Warehouse Order (tppss6115m000) sessions, you can access the Alternative Items option from the Reference menu.
Note
  • If you select an item with the Type of Replacement set to Replaced or Replaced Substitute in the Items (tcibd0501m000) session, the application checks if you can select an alternative item.
  • If a valid replacement exists for the item, a message "The item has not been replaced, although replacement item is available." is displayed.
