Function: Project definition

The objective of this main business function is to define the scope of the project, and, as a result, to ensure that the project is completed successfully. One or more customers, as well as general information such as addresses, payment methods and contract type, can be linked to the project.

Process: Project definition, process (code: MPR01a)

During scope definition, the major project deliverables are divided into smaller, more manageable components. This structure is referred to as the definition of the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) or the elements structure. The Organizational Breakdown Structure (OBS) can also be set up with this function. In this function, you can enter a large amount of project-specific information.

The objective of this process is to make a blueprint of the project to split up a complex project into more manageable parts. This process ensures that the project includes all the work that is required to successfully complete the project.

In this process, one or more customers are linked to the project. You must define general information, such as addresses, payment methods, and contract type, as well as, for example, the project-specific cost objects and surcharges.

Scope definition is triggered to split up the major project deliverables into smaller, more manageable components, namely the definition of the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), the Organizational Breakdown Structure (OBS), and the Activity Structure.
