Function: Value Added Services (VAS)

In this function, all value-adding operations, other than movements or counting, performed on items when received, whether during storage or before shipment, are controlled. This function includes control for operations related to kit-to-stock assembly, labeling, repackaging, or any value-added service performed in the warehouse.

Process: Perform value added service (VAS) (code: MWH09a)

The objective of this process is to carry out value added service (VAS) orders. The process planning VAS control ( Function: Planning/value added service (VAS) control) in Inventory Management triggers this process.

The value-added services that LN currently supports are assembly, kitting, and disassembly. These processes are all performed through the same sessions, so only one process for VAS is required.

Assumptions:

  • VAS can take place in any type of warehouse. Even if the warehouse itself is a rather simple warehouse to support the shop floor, the warehouse can have operations to create kits for the assembly line. Therefore, no difference between advanced and basic processes has been made.
