Cost components

Cost components are used to break down calculated prices into components that are meaningful to the user. In other words, cost components offer a user-defined cost structure of items and projects.

Cost components are used differently in each of the following packages:

Cost component codes are defined in the Cost Components (tcmcs0148m000) session.

Cost component types

A cost component has one of the following cost component types:

  • Material Costs
  • Operation Costs
  • WIP Transfer Costs
  • General Costs
  • Not Applicable

The specific cost component types are only used in Manufacturing. In Project and Service, you can use any cost component type, but the recommended cost component type is Not Applicable.
