The item ordering data includes the order policy for the
item. In the Customize group box, you can specify this data: The order system for the item can be: The order method for the item can be: If the order system is Manual or FAS, the order
method must be Lot for Lot. Details and restrictions The following additional details and restrictions apply to the
various kinds of items: Purchased and Manufactured items You can select the Purchase Schedule in Use check box in the Items (tcibd0501m000) session only for Purchased and Manufactured items. Orders
for these items are then issued according to a purchase schedule. If you
use a purchase schedule, the order system must be Planned and
the order method must be Lot for Lot. Items of type Generic If you specify ordering data for a generic item, the Customize check box must be selected for the item.
The customized items that you derive from the generic item inherit only the
relevant generic item's ordering data. Ordering data that is used for make and
store to stock items, is irrelevant for customized items. For example, the
economic order quantity is a calculated value based on a formula. Therefore, in
case of customized items, the following fields get predefined values: - Reorder Point: 0
- Order Costs: 0
- Service Level: 0
- Safety Stock: 0
- Number of Periods: 1
- Period Type: Month
- Seasonal Pattern for Safety Stock: [empty]

If the Customize check box is selected, but the With PCS check box is cleared for a generic item in
the Items - Ordering (tcibd2100m000) session, the configured standard items (CSI)
concept is applied to the item. These items are processed without using the Project Control module. List items For list items, you can specify ordering data only if the list
item type is kit. Tool Purchased items that have the Tool item
specification in the Items (tcibd0501m000) session must have the ordering data listed below,
regardless of whether you use a purchase schedule. The order quantity settings
define the recommended order quantity for planned orders. - Customize: selected

Service Service items are not tangible, physical items like Purchased and Manufactured items, but
they can represent services or work carried out by your suppliers or
subcontractors. Service items are mainly used for cost accounting, in the same
way as cost items. Service items can be used in any Operations
Management package. You can specify service items that are not used in Service at all. It is not mandatory to define item ordering data for service
items. However, if you want to create purchase orders and register receipts of
service items, you must define the warehouse item data for the service items in
the Item - Warehousing (whwmd4100s000) session.
