DB2 Universal DatabaseThis chapter describes in highlights how to prepare the DB2 software for a ERP LN installation. To install the DB2 software, use the DB2 installation Manuals. Overview of the installation process DB2 installations are version-dependant and system-dependent. Ensure you check your DB2 documentation for the DB2 version you want to install. On the DB2 UDB medium, the autorun feature automatically starts the set-up program. This program determines the system language and launches the setup program for it. The user interface for the db2setup script is a series of windows in which you are asked to enter information. Respond to the installation prompts. Online Help is available to walk you through the installation steps. To start the online Help, click Help. To end the installation, click Cancel. Note If a DB2 product is already installed on the workstation, you must install the product on the same drive and in the same directory. DB2 setup creates user name for installation During the installation of DB2, you must provide a user name and password that the administration server can use to log on to the system and start itself as a service. By default, the set-up program fills the User Name, Password, and Confirm Password fields with db2admin. You can accept these default values or provide your own. If you provide your own user name, ensure it is eight characters or less in length and complies with DB2’s naming rules. The user name will be removed from the system when the installation is complete, unless the administration server uses the user name. If the user name does not exist, the set-up program creates the user name specified for the administration server. The set-up program will do the following:
Note If you use the default user name db2admin, and did not change the default password for this user name, you must change this password immediately after the installation.
