Using time zones

A time zone is a geographical region in which the same standard time is used. LN provides the world's time zones information in the Time Zones (ttaad0160m000) session. In the Time Zones (tcemm1100m000) session in the Enterprise Modeling Management module you can select those time zones that you want to use and add a description to each time zone.

The companies of a multicompany structure must share the Time Zones (emm100) table.

LN records dates and times of logistic transactions, such as the various types of order documents, transactions, postings shipments, and receipts, in Universal Time Coordinated (UTC) time, which is the same in every geographical location around the world. Therefore, a logistic company is independent of time zones.

User time zones

In the User Management module in Tools you must link a time zone to each LN user with the user data template. LN uses the user's time zone to display logistic transaction dates and times, which are registered in Common, in the user's local time.

Resource time zones

To determine the time zones for the various resources, such as departments and warehouses, LN uses the time zone that is linked to the resources' address.

LN uses the time zone of a work center that acts as the calculation office of an assembly line to calculate the time differences between assembly lines. This information is necessary to coordinate the main lines and the supplying lines.

The default time zones are the time zones that you enter in the States/Provinces (tcmcs1143m000) session and in the Countries (tcmcs0110s000) session, in that order. If you do not enter a default time zone for the country, state, or province, you must enter the time zone for each address.

Financial company time zones

You must select a time zone for each financial company in the Enterprise Modeling Management module. LN records postings in Financials with the local date and time. When transactions are transferred from the logistic company to Financials, LN converts the transaction date and time from UTC time to the financial company's local date and time. In this way, the amounts are posted in the correct financial periods in each financial company.

LN also converts the effective date and time of currency rates and tax rates, which you define in the logistic company, from UTC time to the financial company's local time. In this way, the correct rates are applied to convert the amounts into the home currencies in Financials and to compute the tax amounts.
