To use progress result

Progress can be registered on various levels. The most detailed level is cost object/control code level. For some resources it is difficult to record exact progress, for this purpose, you can control the progress registration at two places:

  • Use the Register Progress field in the Projects (tppdm6100m000) session to indicate

the progress to be recorded on cost object/control code level for the current project. The choices given are: Yes, No, and Variance= Inventory.

  • Use the Register Progress field in the standard and project cost object sessions to indicate whether progress must be recorded on cost object /control code level for a specific cost object /control code.

Based on the combination of field values you will get the following result:

-Cost Object Sessions check box
List values in Projects
YesNo
YesResult 1Result 1
NoResult 1Result 2
Result = InventoryResult 1Result 3

Result 1: The progress you record on the cost object or control code will be used in the monitoring calculation as follows: performed = Progress (%) * Budget cost variance = Performed - Actual

Result 2: You cannot register progress on the cost object or control code. As a result, in monitoring you cannot determine the performed from the progress: Performed = Actual, result is variance = 0

Result 3: The progress you record on the cost object or control code will be used in the calculation of monitoring as follows: The progress you record on the cost object or control code is not used to calculate the variance. The cost incurred, but not consumed according to your progress, are regarded as inventory. This leads to the following logic in monitoring: Performed = Progress (%) * Budget Inventory = Actual - Performed Result = 0

Notes:

  • Result 2 and 3 only occur for non-finished work. If the work for a project is finished, the calculation of result 1 is used.
  • Monitoring will only show results if you set the cost control levels in the Project - Cost Control Levels (tppdm6102m000) session to control code.
