The link between a costing work center, and a planning work center enables you to replan production order operations again. If required, you can change the work center that is used to carry out an operation without modifying the costing process.

Work Center A work center, linked to a planning work center, that is used
to calculate the end item unit costs, WIP transfers, and production results
used to hold the financial transactions related to production orders. The link between a costing work center, and a planning work center enables you to replan production order operations again. If required, you can change the work center that is used to carry out an operation without modifying the costing process. Work Center Type The work center type you want displayed. Allowed values Manager The employee responsible or the manager of the department. The
specified employee is notified if, in the Print Hours and Expenses (Completeness Check) (bptmm1410m000) session, the Notify Manager check box is selected. Critical inPlanning this plan item is
critical in master planning. This means
that in the master-planning process in Enterprise Planning, this
item is treated as a critical component. If the item order system is Planned, you can select or clear this check box. In order planning, all components are taken into account. In master planning, only critical components are considered. Master planning uses an item's bill of critical materials (BCM) for production planning. As a rule, the BCM is derived from the BOM, and contains only those components that are designated as critical in master planning. You can generate a BCM for an item in the Generate BCM or BCC (cprpd3220m000) session. ParentWork Center The main work center linked to the work center. If the work center is a sub work center of a main work center, you must enter the code of the main work center. If you use shared work centers, the secondary work center is always a main work center, even if the primary work center is a sub work center. Production Department A group of production resources, work centers and work cells, physically related to each other. For example, a
production hall is a production department. Shared Type/ Primary Company The type of work center and the related company. Allowed values Calendar Code Availability Type Actual Calendar The calendar and availability type combination that is used by the work
center manufacturing a production order. Note
Shop Floor Warehouse A warehouse that stores intermediate inventory in order to
supply work centers. A shop floor warehouse is linked to an individual work
cell, an assembly line, or one or more work centers. A shop floor warehouse can
be supplied with goods using replenishment orders, or by pull-based material
supply. The pull-based material supply methods are:
The items stored in the shop-floor warehouse are not part of the work in process (WIP). When items leave the shop floor warehouse for use in production, their value is added to the WIP. You can only enter a value if the Use of Shop Floor Warehouses check box in the Production Order Parameters (tisfc0100s000) session is selected. The value of the Warehouse Type field in the Warehouses (tcmcs0103s000) session must be set to Shop Floor. Backflush Employee The employee number to which hours are posted in People using backflushing. Operation Rate Code The code linked to the work center and used as the work center
rate. Note You must define operation codes in the Operation Rate Codes (ticpr0150m000) session. This field is only enabled if:
Week Capacity [Hours] The weekly capacity of each resource unit in the work center.
This value is used to calculate the normal capacity of a work center for each
week, which is displayed in work center utilization reports. Basic Day Capacity[Hours] The daily capacity of each resource unit in the work center.
This value is used to calculate the normal capacity of a work center for each
day, which is displayed in work center utilization reports. Number of Machines The number of machines that is available
for production on the work center. This value can be calculated and updated in
the Calculate Resources (tirou0201m000) session. LN searches for all machines allocated to a work center using of the Machines (tirou0102m000) session. The calculation for the number of machines for a work center: Number of machines = Sum of weekly capacities of all machines linked to the work center / Weekly capacity of the work center The work center's weekly capacity is defined in the Week Capacity [Hours] field. The number of machines and the number of operators that is linked to a work center is used to calculate the work center's available capacity. Example
Number of machines = (40+60)/40 = 2.50 Number of Operators The number of operators that is available to the work center.
This value can be calculated and updated in the Calculate Resources (tirou0201m000) session. Each work center is a department. LN searches for all operators assigned to the department using the Employees - General (tccom0101m000) session, and calculates the weekly capacities. The calculation for the number of operators for a work center: Number of operators = Sum of weekly capacities of all operators linked to the work center / Weekly capacity of the work center The employees' weekly capacities are entered in the Employment field in the Employees - People (bpmdm0101m000) details session. The work center's weekly capacity is defined in the Work Centers (tirou0101m000) session. The number of machines and the number of operators that is linked to a work center are used to calculate the work center's available capacity. Number of operators = (40 + 30) /40 = 1.75 Critical Capacity for Planning Specify which capacity is critical when planning. The specified
capacity is used by Enterprise Planning and Project Control network activities:
Note JSC does not use this field because in JSC the capacity use is always expressed in terms of man capacity and in terms of machine capacity. Allowed values Time Unit The time unit in which Wait Time and Queue Time are
expressed. The time unit of the sub-work-center can be the same as the time
unit of its main work center. If the time unit relates to the queue time, Days and Hours must be interpreted as days and hours in the working time calendar that is linked to the work center. If the time unit relates to the wait time, no calendar is used. The availability of time is considered as 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Allowed values
Queue Time The amount of time that an order remains at a work center
before setup, or work is performed. The queue time is used in lead time calculation. The queue time is expressed in days or hours. The days or hours must be interpreted as days and hours in the working time calendar that is linked to the work center. If the Time Unit field is Days, LN rounds the entered values of the lead times to integer values. Wait Time The time that an order remains at a work center after an
operation is completed until it is moved to the next operation. LN does not plan wait times according to a specific calendar. Planning of the wait time is based on a 7 * 24 hours week schedule. A typical example is the time required for drying after the application of paint. When LN calculates the start times and end times of planned orders based on the routing, LN considers the wait time. The wait time is expressed in days or hours. The days or hours do not relate to a calendar. The availability of time is considered as 24 hours a day, seven days a week. If the Time Unit field is Days, LN rounds the entered values of the lead times to integer values. The plan buffer created by the wait time enables you to build in a certain tolerance between successive operations, which makes it possible to shift operations in case planning must be adjusted. Note This field is not accessible if the Work Center Type field is Costing, Line Station or Buffer. Move Time The time that a semifinished good is in transit from one
operation to the next operation. After the last operation, the move time is the
time required to transfer the finished good to the warehouse. Move time is one of the lead-time elements LN plans according to a specific calendar. If the Time Unit field is Days, LN rounds the entered values of the lead times to integer values. Desired Queue The difference between the output and input of a work cell required by the user. This value is the default for initial queue
calculations. Print Instructions If you use a microrouting, you can define
instructions for production orders for each operation and for each operation step. If the value of this field is Yes, those
instructions are printed. You can only use Not Applicable as a value if the Work Center Type is Sub Work Center. Consequently, the sub-work-center inherits its main work center's value of the Print Instructions field.
