To define setup classes and setup states for product features

Particularly production orders for customized items configured in the Product Configuration module benefit from the setup optimization based on setup statuses. To use setup optimization rules for customized items, you must link the product features and options of an item as defined in Product Configuration to setup classes and setup states.

The links are valid for a specific combination of a work center and a task. If the customized item's project structure including the BOM and the routing, are generated, those links are used to find the following:

  • A setup class that matches a specific product feature.
  • A setup state that matches a specific option.
Procedure

Take the following steps to set up your data in LN so that you can use setup optimization for generic items:

  1. Define setup classes in the Setup Classes (tcmcs0185m000) session.
  2. Define setup states in the Setup States (tcmcs0186m000) session.
  3. Use the Setup Classes and States by Work Center/Task (tirou0112m000) session to link PCF product features with setup classes, and to link PCF options with setup states.

  4. If production orders are generated for the customized items, the setup classes and setup states are stored on operation level.

    • Use the Setup Classes and States by Routing Operation (tirou1104m000) session to check the setup classes and setup states that are linked to the operations of a specific customized item.
    • Use the Setup Classes and States by Operation (tisfc0133m000) session to check the setup classes and setup states that are linked to the operations of an specific production order.
The same process as for standard items applies now. For more information, refer to To define setup classes and setup states.
