To define setup classes and setup states

You can use setup optimization functionality to schedule LN production orders for standard items, or for customized items to cut down on setup times.

Procedure

To use the setup optimization functionality for LN standard items, you must carry out the following steps to link setup classes and setup states to the standard item's routing operations:

  1. Define setup classes in the Setup Classes (tcmcs0185m000) session.
  2. Define setup states in the Setup States (tcmcs0186m000) session.
  3. In the Routing Operations (tirou1102m000) session, you can start the Setup Classes and States by Routing Operation (tirou1104m000) session to link setup classes and setup states to the operations for a specific standard item.
  4. After production orders are generated, you can use the Setup Classes and States by Operation (tisfc0133m000) session to check and modify the setup classes and setup states that are linked to operations in a specific production order.

A production scheduler on the job shop can use the information in this session to generate order blocks or manually group production orders based on operations with a specific setup state (characteristic). In this way, an operation can be successively carried out for the production orders in the group. As a result, the machine's setup time on the operation can be minimized.

Note

For the conversion of product features defined in the Product Configuration module to setup classes and setup states, refer to To define setup classes and setup states for product features.

If you define setup classes and setup states for the order-block planning functionality, you must enter a planning sequence for each setup state. LN sorts the order blocks on the basis of the related planning sequence.

To define a setup state's planning sequence, enter a numeric value in the Planning Sequence field in the Setup States (tcmcs0186m000).
