Product Variant (Assembly) (tiapl3100s000)

Use this session to display or maintain the configuration, reference, price, and status information of the product variants that were created from sales orders, and product variants that were entered manually.

Product Variant
A unique configuration of a configurable item. The variant results from the configuration process and includes information such as feature options, components, and operations.
Example

Configurable item: electric drill

Options:

  • 3 power sources (batteries, 12 V or 220 V)
  • 2 colors (blue, gray).

A total of 6 product variants can be produced with these options.

This code is generated, based on the value of the Product Variant Number Group field in the Assembly Planning Parameters (tiapl0500m000) session.

Configuration
Item
The code of the generic item or manufactured item for which the Default Supply Source is Assembly.
Item Type
The item type of the to be configured item.

Allowed values

Item type

Warehouse
The warehouse where the end item is stored.
Assembly Line
The code of the assembly line on which the generic item must be assembled.

The assembly line is an effective actualized roll-off line, which is read from the Configurable Item - Assembly Line (tiapl2500m000) session.

If this check box is selected, the product variant structure of the end item is generated in Product Configuration or Assembly Planning.
Reference
Sell Multiples of Same Configuration
If this check box is selected, a sales order line with this product variant can have an order quantity greater than one. An assembly order always has order quantity one. More than one assembly order can be needed to fulfill one sales order line.

The setting of this check box is derived from the setting of the Sell Multiples of Same Configuration check box in the Assembly Planning Parameters (tiapl0500m000) session at the moment of creation .

When you create a product variant, LN sets this check box to the value of the Sell Multiples of Same Configuration check box in the Assembly Planning Parameters (tiapl0500m000) session. The setting of this field remains unchanged if you later select or clear that check box in the Assembly Planning Parameters (tiapl0500m000) session.

LN was designed in this way to allow you to change the Sell Multiples of Same Configuration check box in the Assembly Planning Parameters (tiapl0500m000) session without disrupting existing orders.

Reference Type
The type of the demand order from which the product variant originates.

Allowed values

Reference Type

Reference Order
The code of the sales order from which the product variant originates. If the product variant is entered manually, this field displays value 0.
Reference Position
The position number of the sales order line in the Sales Order Lines (tdsls4101m000) session.

If the product variant is entered manually, this field displays value 0.

Product Configuration Date
The date that is used to determine which flattened assembly parts and operations are effective for the current product variant.

LN determines the product configuration date based on the value of the Configuration Date (PCS) parameter in the Sales Parameters (tdsls0100s000) session. This date can be based on the order date or delivery date as displayed in the Sales Order Lines (tdsls4101m000) session. This date can also be based on date on which the product variant is configured.

Effectivity Unit
Effectivity Unit The effectivity unit that is linked to the product variant. If the product variant originates from a sales order, this unit is entered on the sales order and copied to the product variant.
Note

The code of the unit can differ by company, while the configuration to which these numbers refer remains the same.

The configuration to which the unit refers is identified by a unit item, a unit series code, and a unit sequence number. This data actually stores the configuration, and must be set up in each company in which unit effectivity is used.

The unit that is entered on the sales order, and copied to the product variant, is only a reference to these data, and can, therefore, differ by company.

Unit Series / Sequence
The unit series to which the effectivity unit belongs and the sequence number of the effectivity unit in the unit series.
Requested Offline Date
The date on which the product must come offline.

If the product variant originates from a sales order, this date is copied from the Planned Delivery Date field in the Sales Order Lines (tdsls4101m000) session.

If the Sell Multiples of Same Configuration check box is cleared, changes in this date are communicated to Assembly Control for the assembly order on the roll-off line, if the Assembly Status has reached the status Planned or is beyond that status.

Note
Prices
Configuration Based Sales Price
The sales price of the configured item.

This price is copied from the generic item that is effective on the Product Configuration Date. The price is displayed in the Sales Price field of the Configurable Item - Assembly Line (tiapl2100s000) session.

Sales Price Currency
The currency in which the Configuration Based Sales Price is expressed.

This currency is copied from the generic item that is effective on the Product Configuration Date. The currency is displayed in the Sales Price Currency field of the Configurable Item - Assembly Line (tiapl2100s000) session.

Configuration Based Standard Cost
The standard cost of the configured item.
Standard Cost Currency
The currency in which the Configuration Based Standard Cost is expressed.
Status
Assembly Status
The status of the assembly order linked to the product variant.
Note
  • If one assembly order is linked to the product variant, this field displays the status of that assembly order. If, in case of a multisite assembly model, multiple assembly orders are linked to the product variant, this field displays the assembly order status that was reached or surpassed by all of these assembly orders. If no assembly orders have been generated for the product variant, the assembly status is Open.
  • If, in the Assembly Planning Parameters (tiapl0500m000) session, the Sell Multiples of Same Configuration check box is selected, this field has the fixed value of Open.

Allowed values

Assembly status

Planned Offline Date
The date when the product variant is planned to come offline.

This date is calculated when assembly orders are generated. If an assembly order is moved, the orders are remixed and offset again. The Planned Offline Date is modified accordingly.

The default date is equal to the Requested Offline Date, which is copied from the sales order, if the product variant originates from a sales order. When the assembly orders are planned, the Planned Offline Date receives its calculated value.

Note
Serial Number
The serial number of the assembly order that is linked to the product variant. In a multisite environment, an assembly order is created for each logistic company, and the displayed serial number is the number of the last assembly order, which corresponds to the top-level configured item.
Note
Product Variant Structure generated
If this check box is selected, the BOM structure for this product variant is solved, which means that LN has determined which assembly parts and operations are required for each engineering module.

The specific configuration of the product variant is solved, based on the effective dates and units. The result appears in the Assembly BOM and Operations (tiapl2520m000) session.

This check box is selected when the Generate Product Variant Structures (tiapl3210m000) has processed the current product variant.

Assembly Parts Allocated
If this check box is selected, the assembly parts that are required for this product variant are allocated in Warehousing. As a result, the product variant is not considered in the calculation of the assembly part requirements, which is executed when you run the Calculate Assembly Part Requirements (tiapl2221m000) session.
Note

If the Calculate Assembly Part Requirements (tiapl2221m000) session is run, the allocation status as displayed by the current check box is first updated from Assembly Control, for all companies in the selection range of that session.

If the Sell Multiples of Same Configuration check box is selected, this check box will remain clear. When the production variant is used several times, additional assembly orders with assembly part requirements can be created at any time changing the assembly part requirements.

This check box is only selected in the following circumstances:

  • The parts were allocated by Assembly Control, and not by Assembly Planning.
  • The parts were allocated for all assembly lines and assembly orders that are related to the product variant. In this case all the Assembly Parts Allocated check boxes for all assembly lines and orders are selected for this product variant in the Product Variant - Assembly Lines (tiapl3520m000) session.

If this check box is cleared, Assembly Planning calculates the assembly part requirements for the assembly lines and orders whose parts are not yet allocated by Assembly Control.

The allocation of the assembly parts by Assembly Planning differs from the allocation by Assembly Control, because allocation by Assembly Planning is less detailed and has a higher performance for large volumes.

To Be Deleted
If this check box is selected, the product variant is deleted when you run the Purge Product Variants (tiapl3200m000) session, and no references to a corresponding sales order exist.

LN deletes the following types of data:

You can only select or clear this check box if the following conditions are met:

  • You work in test mode, which is the case when the Test Mode check box is selected in the Assembly Planning Parameters (tiapl0100s000) session.
  • The Reference Type is Pseudo Order.
  • The Assembly Status is Open.

In the following cases, this check box is selected automatically, and is unavailable for the user:

  • The corresponding sales order is deleted, which is only possible if no assembly orders exist for the product variant.
  • The Assembly Status is Closed.
Note

You cannot delete a product variant directly. To delete a product variant, you must run the Purge Product Variants (tiapl3200m000) session.
