Promotions (tdpcg0140m000)

Use this session to maintain promotions.

Promotions are price and discount constructions that are defined to promote the sales of an item or to influence commercial deals with a business partner. Promotions are used for sales orders. For example, a promotion is "buy two get one free" or "buy item A get item B 50% off".

You must link a ( promotion group of) business partner(s) or a (promotion group of) item(s) to the promotion. The selected qualifier determines if the promotion is eligible or ineligible for this (group of) business partners or this (group of) items. If the promotion is eligible, the promotion is only valid for this (group of) business partner(s) or this (group of) item(s). If the promotion is ineligible, the promotion is valid for all (groups of) business partners and items except the selected (group of) business partners or items.

You can link a promotion discount schedule to the promotion. If the promotion is a percentage, value off, or one free item (premium), it can be stored in the discount schedule itself in the Discount Schedules (tdpcg0121m000) session. If it is a list of free items (premiums), the list can be stored in a premium promotion group and be linked to the discount schedule.

On the appropriate menu, you can choose Exclusion Periods to define exclusion dates for the promotion's effectivity period in the Promotion - Exclusion Periods (tdpcg0141m000) session.

Promotion
The code that identifies a promotion. You must select the code from the First Free Numbers (tcmcs0150m000) session. The number group for the first free number series is set in the Pricing Parameters (tdpcg0100m000) session.
DefaultPromotion
If this check box is selected, the default promotion is used.

One or more of the following fields must be filled for the default promotion:

  • Item
  • Item group
  • Sold-to business partner
  • Sold-to business partner group
Note

You need not link a default promotion to the promotion matrix in the Order Promotion Matrices (tdpcg0130m220) or Line Promotion Matrices (tdpcg0130m210) sessions.

PromotionManager
The code of the employee who is responsible for the current promotion.
Effective Date
The first date and time on which the promotion becomes valid.
Expiry Date
The expiry date and time of the promotion. If this field is not filled, the promotion is infinitely valid.
ExclusionPeriods
If this check box is selected, you can define a list of dates for which the promotion is not valid. Choose Exclusion Periods to define the list.
DiscountSchedule
The discount schedule that is linked to the promotion. The discount schedule has the Used for Promotions check box selected.
Automatic Promotion
If this check box is selected, the promotion is automatically offered when you enter a sales order for the items or business partners that are specified in this promotion.

If more than one automatic promotion for this item or business partner is created, LN selects the first eligible promotion, or a promotion from the list of all eligible promotions for the defined priority. The priority for the promotion matrices is defined in the Matrix Priorities (tdpcg0120m000) session.

If both the Automatic Promotion check box and the Exclusive Promotion check box are selected, and only one promotion is present for the item or the business partner, LN automatically links the promotion to the order line or order header during sales order entry. If multiple promotions are created, you must manually select one of the exclusive/automatic promotions.

If the Automatic Promotion and Exclusive Promotion check boxes are both cleared, you must select one of the promotions from the list of eligible promotions. The promotion matrices must be ranked by priority in the Matrix Priorities (tdpcg0120m000) session. The lower the number, the higher the priority of the promotion for the sales order or order line. You can select all, none, or a combination of eligible promotions.

If you select multiple eligible promotions with various combinations of automatic and exclusive, or no selection at all, you must select promotions from the eligible promotions list. You can either select multiple nonexclusive eligible promotions or you can select one exclusive promotion. If you select multiple nonexclusive eligible promotions, a sequence number must be linked to the promotions. Promotions that are not ranked, cannot be selected.

Exclusive Promotion
If this check box is selected, and you use this promotion, you cannot use other valid promotions during sales order entry.

The promotion is not automatically linked to a sales order or sales order line. You must manually select the exclusive promotion. If more than one exclusive promotion is specified, you must select one to link to a sales order or sales order line.

If both the Automatic Promotion and Exclusive Promotion check boxes are selected, and only one promotion is present for the item or the business partner, LN automatically links the promotion to the order line or order header during sales order entry. If multiple promotions are created, you must select one of the exclusive/automatic promotions manually.

If the Automatic Promotion and Exclusive Promotion check boxes are both cleared, you must select one of the promotions from the list of eligible promotions. The promotion matrices must be ranked by priority in the Matrix Priorities (tdpcg0120m000) session. The lower the number, the higher the sequence for applying the promotion to the sales order or order line.

If you select multiple nonexclusive eligible promotions a sequence number must be linked to the promotions. Promotions that are not ranked, cannot be selected.

Promotion Group
The code that is used to identify the sales item promotion group.

A promotion group consists of a set of items, sold-to business partners or promotions that share the same set of promotion attribute values. Promotion groups enable you to link more than one promotion to a promotion matrix.

Example

The promotions A, B, C, and D obtain their discount, value off, or premiums on sales orders based on the Item and Area attributes. The value for the attribute item is Red Chair Type 101, the value for the area is Ba1. You can group these promotions in the C01 item promotion group.

Sales Item
The eligible/ineligible item to which the promotion applies. In the Qualifier field, you can specify that the item is eligible or ineligible for the promotion.
Qualifier
Select a value to indicate whether the sales item or sales item group is applicable for the promotion or not.

Eligible/ineligible sales item

If the promotion is created specifically for item A, which implies it is disabled for all other items, the Qualifier field for the promotion must be set to Eligible. If the promotion is applicable for all items except for item A, the Sales Item field must be filled with A and the Qualifier must be set to Ineligible.

Eligible/ineligible sales item group

If the promotion is created specifically to the item promotion group A, and it is disabled for all other items, the Qualifier field for the promotion must be set to Eligible. If the promotion is applicable for all items except the specific item promotion group A, the Qualifier field must be set to Ineligible.

Qualifying Unit
The unit in which the item must be ordered to be eligible for the promotion.
Promotion Group
The code that is used to identify the business partner promotion group.

A promotion group consists of a set of items, sold-to business partners or promotions that share the same set of promotion attribute values. Promotion groups enable you to link more than one promotion to a promotion matrix.

Example

The promotions A, B, C, and D maintain their discount, value off, or premiums on sales orders based on the Business Partner line of business and Area attributes. The value for the attribute line of business is Chair, the value for the area is Ba1. You can group these promotions in the C01 sold-to business partner promotion group.

Business Partner
The eligible/ineligible business partner to which the promotion applies. In the Qualifier field, you can specify that the business partner is eligible or ineligible for the promotion.
Qualifier
Select a value to indicate whether the sold-to business partner or the sold-to business partner promotion group is applicable for the promotion or not.

For example, if the promotion is created specifically for sold-to business partner A, which implies it is disabled for all other sold-to business partners, the Qualifier field for the promotion must be set to Eligible. If the promotion is applicable for all sold-to business partners except for sold-to business partner A, the Business Partner field must be filled with A and the Qualifier field must be set to Ineligible.

Example

If the promotion is created specifically for the business partner promotion group A, and it is disabled for all other business partners, the Qualifier field for the promotion must be set to Eligible. If the promotion is applicable for all sold-to business partners except the specific business partner promotion group A, the Qualifier field must be set to Ineligible.
