Setting up the item dataTo specify the item data: Step 1. Segmented item codes If you want to use segmented item codes, start the Item Code Segmentation (tcibd0500m000) session to define the item code segments. The item code segments must first be set up in the Segmented Domains (ttgfd4122m000) session in Tools. Step 2. Item groups Start the Item Groups (tcmcs0123m000) session to define the item groups. Every item must belong to an item group. The item group determines the default currency that is used to calculate the item's standard cost. Step 3. Unit sets Use the Unit Sets (tcmcs0106m000) session to define the unit sets required for the items and link units to the unit sets in the Units by Unit Set (tcmcs0112m000) session. Step 4. Default general item data Start the Items - Defaults (tcibd0102m000) session to specify default item data for items of a specific item type within each item group. In this way, you do not need to specify all the item data for every individual item. Step 5. General item data Start the Items (tcibd0501m000) session to specify the item data for each item. If you specified default item data for the selected item group and item type, LN enters the default data. You can use the default values or change the values as required. The item data includes information such as the item type, the item's unit set, inventory unit, and whether the item is a lot item. Step 6. Conversion factors Start the Conversion Factors (tcibd0103m000) session to specify the conversion factor of the item's alternative units to the item's inventory unit. You can define conversion factors that apply to item groups or to individual items. Step 7. Package-specific item data Depending on the item type, use these sessions to specify package-specific item data:
For each package, you can also specify package-specific default item data in separate sessions. For example, default sales item data in the Items - Sales Defaults (tdisa0502m000) session and default ordering item data in the Items - Ordering Defaults (tcibd2101m000) session.
